The Kings Arms is a welcoming local spot in Orsett that's all about fresh, quality food and a cosy vibe, making it a top pick for a relaxed pint or a hearty meal with mates.
Pros and Cons
What's Great
  • The food is absolutely spot on – fresh ingredients, daily specials, and a cracking Sunday roast that keeps everyone coming back for more.
  • Friendly staff who make you feel right at home, always ready with a smile and attentive service.
  • It's got a lovely, newly renovated atmosphere that's warm and inviting, with live entertainment, quiz nights, and even afternoon teas to liven things up.
  • The beer garden is a real gem, perfect for soaking up the sunshine with a drink in hand.

Areas for Improvement
  • The external door can be a tad stiff and tricky for wheelchair users, which might make access a bit of a hassle.

The Mole Hole Micro Pub is a delightful little hideaway in Gravesend, serving up fantastic ales and a warm atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
Pros and Cons
What's Great
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly, knowledgeable, and ready to chat, making you feel right at home.
  • They've got a cracking selection of cask ales, local ciders, and a few gins that are spot on for a proper pint or a refreshing tipple.
  • The open mic nights are a real highlight, with some talented acts that make for a fun, lively evening.
  • It's super affordable, so you can enjoy a great night out without breaking the bank.
  • Dog-friendly and welcoming to everyone, with a cosy, hidden basement vibe that feels like a secret gem in Gravesend.
Areas for Improvement
  • It's only open four days a week with fairly limited hours, which might not work if you're looking for a spontaneous midweek visit.
  • The location down the stairs can be a bit tricky to spot, so you might miss it if you're not paying attention.
  • From what I've seen, it's a smaller spot, so it could get cosy on busier nights and might not suit larger groups.

The Three Daws is a cracking historic pub in Gravesend with delicious food, a great vibe, and plenty of events, though it has a few limitations that might not suit everyone.
Pros and Cons
What's Great
  • The historic charm of this 1400s inn really adds a special touch, making every visit feel like a step back in time.
  • The food is absolutely spot on – fresh, locally sourced dishes like those chicken skewers and pies that leave you wanting more.
  • Outdoor seating with stunning river views is perfect for a sunny afternoon pint or a relaxed meal.
  • They've got a lively events scene with weekly quizzes, bingo nights, live music, and even barbecues, keeping things fun and engaging.
  • The staff are always welcoming and friendly, and the selection of real ales and fine wines is brilliant for a good catch-up over drinks.
Areas for Improvement
  • There are restrictions on where dogs can go, which might be a hassle if you're out with your four-legged mate and the designated area is full.
  • The interior might not be the most modern or impressive at first glance, so it could feel a bit dated for some folks.

Ye Olde Coach And Horses is a charming local pub with a warm, welcoming vibe and fun events, but it could do with a broader drink range to keep things exciting.
Pros and Cons
What's Great
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got a lovely, cosy atmosphere with regulars who are quick to make newcomers feel included.
  • The pub keeps things spot on with clean facilities, like the toilets, which always seem tidy.
  • They've got some brilliant entertainment nights, such as karaoke and bingo, that really liven up the place.
  • Drinks are reasonably priced, and there's a nice outdoor area for when the weather's on your side.
Areas for Improvement
  • The beer selection is a bit disappointing, mostly just lagers and a cider, with no craft options or hand pumps to mix things up.
  • Food isn't always available, like on some evenings when you might fancy a bite alongside your pint.
  • It feels like a small, traditional spot, which might not suit those after something more modern or varied.

The Windmill Tavern is a delightful, historic pub in Gravesend with a cracking beer garden and tasty home-cooked grub, though it's not without a few service niggles that might catch you out.
Pros and Cons
What's Great
  • The beer garden is an absolute gem, perfect for soaking up the sun with a pint in hand – it's hands down one of the best in Gravesend.
  • They serve up some cracking home-cooked food, especially those Sunday roasts that folks can't stop raving about; it's all hearty, flavoursome, and feels like a proper family meal.
  • It's wonderfully family and dog-friendly, with a cosy atmosphere and friendly staff that make you feel right at home, whether you're popping in with the kids or your four-legged companion.
Areas for Improvement
  • There have been a couple of reports of less than welcoming service from some staff members, which could put a dampener on your visit if you're not lucky with who you encounter.
  • The kitchen isn't open every day, like on Tuesdays, so if you're after a bite to eat, you might find yourself settling for just drinks instead.
  • Opening hours are a bit on the late side for some, starting from the afternoon most days, which means it's not ideal if you're looking for a spot for lunch or an early tipple.

The Rising Sun is a welcoming local gem in Swanscombe with affordable drinks and a homely vibe, though it's cash-only and on the cosy side.
Pros and Cons
What's Great
  • The staff and regulars make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in, like you're part of the gang.
  • Prices are dead reasonable compared to other spots, so you can enjoy a pint without breaking the bank.
  • There's a lovely little garden that's just perfect for soaking up the sun on a nice day.
  • They serve up a cracking pint, as one chap mentioned – it's all about that quality brew.
Areas for Improvement
  • It's cash only, which feels a bit outdated these days when everyone's used to tapping their cards.
  • The place is quite small and on the quiet side, so it might not be the best for a lively night out.
  • With no website or online presence, it's tricky to get the lowdown before you head over.

Woodlands Edge is a charming local pub in South Ockendon that's full of warmth and good vibes, offering tasty grub, live sports, and plenty of laughs for a relaxed get-together.
Pros and Cons
What's Great
  • The atmosphere is lovely and welcoming, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home, just like chatting with mates over a pint.
  • They've got cracking food options like fish and chips, burgers, and steaks at affordable prices – perfect for a casual meal without breaking the bank.

  • Regular deals and events keep things exciting, and the pub's part of Greene King, so you know the pints are reliably good.
Areas for Improvement
  • Some dishes, like the fish and chips, might not always hit the mark in terms of quality, which can be a bit disappointing if you're after something top-notch.

The Ship Inn is a cracking little pub in Grays with friendly vibes, affordable grub, and a welcoming atmosphere, though it has a few niggles like occasional service slip-ups.
Pros and Cons
What's Great
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready with a smile and a chat which makes you feel right at home.
  • The food is tasty and excellent value for money – you can get a hearty meal for just a few quid, like a big plate of chicken curry for £8.
  • There's free parking, which is a real bonus when you're popping in for a quick pint or a bite.
  • The atmosphere is lovely and welcoming, with a huge beer garden, a pool table, and sports on the telly, perfect for catching up with mates.
  • It's kept clean and tidy, and being a local spot means it's got that cosy, community feel.
Areas for Improvement
  • The staff can sometimes forget bits of your order, which might mean a bit of waiting or chasing them up.
  • It has a very 'local' vibe, so if you're not a regular, it might feel a tad cliquey and not as inviting for newcomers.
  • The seating could do with an upgrade – it's missing those big, comfy sofas or chairs that make you want to linger longer.
  • Based on a recent visit, the overall experience wasn't spot-on for everyone, with one person deciding not to return after a mixed lunch.

Pros and Cons
What's Great

  • It's a fantastic spot for events like birthdays, weddings, or even a casual get-together, with a lovely function room and garden that's perfect for celebrations.
  • They've got a great selection of drinks, including a good range of 0% beers and other options, so there's something for everyone whether you're driving or just fancy a non-alcoholic tipple.

  • It's wonderfully dog-friendly, which is a real bonus if you're out with your furry friend; the pub's own dogs add to the charm and make it feel even more welcoming.
Areas for Improvement

  • They've got a fantastic selection of well-kept cask ales at really reasonable prices – like £3.40 a pint, which is a bargain these days.
  • The atmosphere is spot on, especially in the afternoon, with a proper old-school pub vibe, complete with a pool table, TVs, and plenty of natural light.
  • It's a safe and relaxed spot, perfect for enjoying a quiet drink without any nonsense, and it's open every day from midday till 11 PM.
Areas for Improvement
  • There's a noticeable smell of urine as soon as you step inside, which might be down to the drains or something, and it really puts a damper on things.
  • It's a fair walk from the town centre, so you might need to plan your trip if you're not local.

The Bull in Grays is a charming 18th-century pub that's spot on for a relaxed meal, sunny garden sessions, or special gatherings, with cracking food and friendly service all round.
Pros and Cons

  • Service is top-notch and really welcoming; the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home, whether you're popping in for a quick drink or hosting a special event.
  • The outdoor garden with private booths is a brilliant spot for soaking up the sun, enjoying craft beers, and having a laid-back time with family or friends.
  • It's great for all sorts of occasions, from family days to celebrations like baptisms or work dos, with plenty of space and a relaxed vibe that suits everyone.
  • Prices are spot on for what you get – moderate and offering good value, especially with packages for booth hire starting from just £99.

The Old Shant Public House is a cracking little local with a solid 4.3 rating, offering a friendly vibe and decent drinks for a relaxed get-together.
Pros and Cons
What's Great
  • The atmosphere is absolutely welcoming and friendly, making it feel like a proper local spot where you can unwind with mates.
  • They've got a great selection of drinks at fair prices, which is always a winner for a casual night out.
  • It's spotlessly clean, which is a rare treat in some pubs – you'll feel right at home without any worries.
  • The staff are helpful and genuinely nice, adding to that warm, community vibe that's hard to beat.
  • It's perfect for chilling out, playing a game of pool, or just catching up with friends in a relaxed setting.
Areas for Improvement
  • The operating hours look a bit muddled in the details, with some listings going late and others ending earlier, so it might be worth double-checking before heading out.
  • There's not much mention of food options, so if you're after a proper meal with your pint, this might not be the place and could feel a tad limited.
  • Their online presence is a bit lacking, with the website throwing up errors, which means it's not the easiest to get info or book ahead.

The Six Bells is a charming local pub in Northfleet that's all about good vibes, friendly faces, and a solid pint, making it a go-to spot for a relaxed get-together.
Pros and Cons
What's Great
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.

  • The atmosphere is lovely and relaxed, perfect for a quiet drink or catching up with mates in a congenial setting.
  • It's family-friendly with a spacious beer garden and a kids' play area, great for sunny days out.
  • The food is solid pub grub that's always tasty, even if it's kept simple and straightforward.
Areas for Improvement
  • The kids' play equipment in the garden is a bit outdated, so it might not be the most exciting for little ones these days.

The Ship is a friendly local pub with a charming historic feel and decent grub, but it's not without its flaws in the kitchen and vibe.
Pros and Cons
What's Great
  • The staff are incredibly welcoming and accommodating, like Sam the landlady who's clearly passionate about the place after running it for over six years.
  • It's a beautiful, tastefully decorated period building that feels warm and inviting, with plenty of space and a lovely layout.
  • They've got live music from the house band, which really livens things up and draws in a happy crowd.
  • Some of the food hits the spot, like the fish and chips, roasties, and a great pint of Guinness – perfect for a relaxed meal.
  • It's generally clean and well-maintained, making it a solid spot for a casual get-together.
Areas for Improvement
  • A few dishes can be hit or miss, with things like chicken, pork, and beef coming out overcooked and tough to eat.
  • Some items, like the chicken strips, were reported as too salty, which might put off those after a simple, flavoursome bite.
  • The atmosphere could do with a bit of a boost, especially on busier nights when it feels a tad ordinary and needs more of that lively pub charm.
  • Little extras, such as a pot of peppercorn sauce, feel a bit pricey at £2.50, which adds up if you're not careful.
  • It can get crowded on Friday evenings, so if you're after a quiet spot, you might want to time your visit right.

  • Service can be hit or miss, with some reports of staff being a tad rude or unwelcoming, which puts a downer on things.

The Treacle Mine in Grays is a cosy, community-focused pub that's spot on for good-value grub and friendly service, though it has its minor niggles like the occasional oily dish.
Pros and Cons
What's Great
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home, like chatting with old mates.
  • The food is spot on, with tasty options like sizzling skillets, flame-grilled burgers, and that sweet chilli chicken that's a real winner.
  • It's a welcoming spot for all sorts, whether you're catching up with friends, watching the game, or enjoying a family meal, and they've got great value deals.
  • Being part of the local community, they do lovely things like fundraising and offering their function area for free – really adds to the vibe.
  • With long opening hours and an inexpensive price tag, it's perfect for a relaxed night out without breaking the bank.
Areas for Improvement
  • Some dishes can be a tad oily, like the jerk chicken skewers, which might put off those after something lighter.
  • While most experiences are top-notch, the overall rating suggests there might be the odd off day or inconsistency in service or food quality.
  • It could feel a bit standard for a traditional pub, without much extra 'sizzle' to stand out from the crowd in Grays.

Harvester Grays is a cosy, family-oriented spot with cracking food and a friendly atmosphere, though it might not be the quickest service in town.
Pros and Cons
What's Great
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think juicy rotisserie chicken, tasty grilled dishes, and that unlimited salad bar that's always a winner for fresh sides.
  • It's brilliantly family-friendly, with a kids' menu and a welcoming vibe that makes it easy to relax and enjoy time with the little ones.
  • Staff are genuinely helpful and polite; from what I've heard, they're quick to make you feel at home and handle any hiccups with a smile.
  • Location's a treat – right near the A13 with free parking and a lovely beer garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun on warmer days.
  • Plenty of options for everyone, including vegetarian and vegan choices, and it's reasonably priced for the quality you get.
Areas for Improvement
  • Service can drag a bit sometimes, especially if it's busy, so you might end up waiting longer than you'd like for your meal.
  • They could do with a few more staff members during peak times, like breakfast, to keep things running smoothly without anyone feeling rushed.
  • Occasionally, some items are out of stock, which is a shame if you're set on something specific from the menu.

Chafford Hundred Brewers Fayre is a welcoming family pub in Grays that's great for budget meals and kids' fun, but watch out for inconsistent service.
Pros and Cons
What's Great
  • Great value for money with lunch deals starting from just £5, perfect for a quick and affordable bite.
  • Really family-friendly setup, including an indoor play area for kids under 145cm, and even free play for tots under 1.
  • Some standout staff members who are super helpful and friendly, like the ones who went above and beyond in a few visits.
  • A solid spot for casual drinks and watching live sport, with outdoor dining options to enjoy the fresh air.
Areas for Improvement
  • Service can be hit or miss, with reports of slow responses, wrong orders, and the occasional rude interaction.
  • The atmosphere might get a bit rowdy at times, which could put a damper on a relaxed evening out.
  • Maintenance isn't always top-notch, like messy toilets or broken glass in the garden that could spoil the experience.
  • Food and drink quality varies – some dishes are fine, but others fall short, and drinks might not always taste quite right.

Papa Johns in Gravesend is a solid choice for pizza fans, with tasty options and friendly service, but it's let down by occasional delivery woes and reliability issues.
Pros and Cons
What's Great
  • The pizzas are spot on and really hit the spot, especially if you're after that classic Papa Johns taste.
  • The staff can be dead helpful and sort out any little issues without much fuss, making you feel looked after.
  • It's conveniently open seven days a week from 11 AM to 11 PM, perfect for a quick bite or a lazy evening in.
Areas for Improvement
  • Delivery can be a right faff sometimes, with orders turning up late and cold, which puts a dampener on things.
  • There have been a few horror stories about refunds not coming through as promised, which is pretty frustrating.
  • The app doesn't always play ball, leading to mix-ups on delivery times and leaving you hanging.

We’ve always enjoyed Papa Johns Pizza. Had a slight technical hitch on the app, phoned the store & the honoured everything without any issue. We’ll continue to visit for our takeaway pizzas 🍕
