About This Pub

Ah, Woodlands Edge – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper community hub, you know? From what I've gathered, it's got this really inviting atmosphere where the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, and the food's generally spot on for a quick bite, with hearty options like burgers and steaks that hit the spot without costing a fortune. I love how they've packed in the entertainment, whether it's catching the latest match on the telly, having a go at pool or darts, or just spinning tunes on the jukebox – it's all there to keep things lively. Plus, being family and dog-friendly with a nice beer garden makes it versatile for different occasions. On the flip side, though, it's not perfect; a few folks have mentioned the fish and chips not quite living up to expectations, and sometimes the crowd can get a bit boisterous with language that might put you off if you're after a peaceful pint. Still, overall, it's a solid choice in Essex – I'd say give it a try if you're nearby, especially for the sports events or a casual meal, but maybe keep your expectations in check for the finer details. It's all about that balanced pub experience, innit?

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is lovely and welcoming, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home, just like chatting with mates over a pint.
  • They've got cracking food options like fish and chips, burgers, and steaks at affordable prices – perfect for a casual meal without breaking the bank.
  • Loads of entertainment on offer, including live sports on big screens, a pool table, darts, and even a jukebox, making it a fun spot for a night out.
  • It's family-friendly and dog-friendly, with a beer garden and other amenities like WiFi and a car park, so it's easy to pop in with the whole crew.
  • Regular deals and events keep things exciting, and the pub's part of Greene King, so you know the pints are reliably good.
Cons
  • Some dishes, like the fish and chips, might not always hit the mark in terms of quality, which can be a bit disappointing if you're after something top-notch.
  • You might encounter rowdy behaviour from other groups, with things like swearing making it less ideal for a quiet evening.
  • Staff can seem a tad tired during busier times, which might slow things down a bit, even if they're still sweet and hardworking overall.

Lovely friendly pub, the guvnor James is top fella, food is tasty and would highly recommend to anyone, there's a pool table darts board and to top it off there's a juke box, pubs with all the above are very rare so top ratings to James Josh and all the other staff, 5 starts across the board

Always a good experience, unfortunately I live in the midlands so don't get here very often. It was so good to see darts on instead of football too. Food was as lovely as ever. Used to be my local. It's the best pub in Thurrock!

It's the only pub I go to, I know everyone that works there and it's just a really nice environment. The team work together which makes service very smooth and fast. I always get a burger when I go cos it's just too good to change. There new menu looks good and the dessert menus improved a little bit. Last time I was in i was served by Gemma and Karis who are always on the ball with great service. I've also had good service by Jenna, Josh and Rianne.

I had the fish and chips, not the best quality fish which was a shame. The customer service was good, considering it was the evening and the staff were clearly tired. They were sweet and hardworking, loved the lady who took our order. There was a lot of swearing from the people around us which is a shame, especially for a family pub, but that's not the fault of the workers of course, and can be pretty hard to control, especially in this area. The decor is lovely, plenty of space, the chairs are comfy, even the broken one I sat on 😂.
