About This Pub
Ah, The Dog & Partridge – it's one of those neighbourhood gems that feels like a proper community hub, you know? Tucked away on High Road in Grays, it's got that cosy, lived-in charm that makes you want to settle in for the afternoon. From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, the food's generally a winner; think juicy burgers, cracking pies, and even some fresh-cooked specials that leave you satisfied. The drinks selection is spot on too, with a good range of beers on tap and cocktails that pair nicely with a chat over the table. Staff-wise, they're an absolute delight under the new management, always ready with a smile and quick to sort you out. It's brilliant for gatherings, whether it's a casual meet-up or something like a football presentation – the outdoor space is a real bonus on sunny days. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; service can go a bit wobbly when it gets busy, and there have been tales of dodgy dishes or the odd pest issue on warmer weather. Still, for the price, it's a solid choice if you're after an affordable night out – I'd say give it a go, but maybe keep expectations in check for peak times. Overall, it's got that heartwarming pub feel that keeps people coming back, flaws and all.

First visit for quite a while, came out of our way to get here maybe shouldn't have bothered. Posh menu poor reality, ordered burger meal with no cheese, eventually turned up with cheese, not good as I'm allergic!!!.
Partners meal left on table getting cold whilst new burger prepared, on trying to pay at the bar waiter was more interested in his private phone conversation to help, eventually caught the bar staff attention, very sullen looking female took payment.
Shame spoilt the memory that brought us back!!!
We recently hosted our end of season football presentation with the team at the Dog and Partridge. From start to finish everything was superb. The food was delicious, the staff super friendly and accommodating, lovely outdoors area to enjoy the the FA Cup final too. Thank you Keely and the rest of the team. Look forward to having more events with you. Would massively recommend! 👍🏻
Visited yesterday with friends. Attentive service until it began to get busier. I wouldn’t recommend the squid- oily and rubbery but I enjoyed the cod and chips. There was a slight fly issue but this could naturally have been because it was a hot day. Clean toilets & a nice little buzz for a Friday evening.
Under new ownership and updated. This is now part of a family owned business and it shows.
Staff are excellent and super helpful. The food was great and well priced. Had the steak pie, my partner had the beef ribs both great. The crumble was very good too
It is now our 'local' after just one visit as it has more atmosphere than others locally for us
Regarding the 'menu on paperv comment, it is on high quality paper and allows them to change the menu. I thought it was better than a lot of places (see last photo)
I was there with my family yesterday and had a great time the food was amazing the staff were so friendly, this is the real taste of fresh cooked food also the chef when Beyond and put some extra mussels on my ravioli , unlike before with the previous owners was only precooked food.
