About This Pub
Ah, Chafford Hundred Brewers Fayre – it's one of those reliable spots in Grays that feels like a go-to for a laid-back meal or a family catch-up. I have to say, what really stands out is how they keep things affordable, with those tempting lunch deals where you can snag a main for just £5, and new dishes like the Grilled Chicken Caesar Flatbread that sound like a proper treat. Plus, it's brilliant for families; they've got an indoor play area running all week from midday to 7pm, which keeps the little ones busy while you relax with a drink. And from what I've heard, some of the staff are absolute stars – think helpful folks who sort out any hiccups with a smile, making you feel right at home. On the downside, though, service isn't always spot on; there've been tales of mix-ups with orders, like getting chips instead of mash, and it can feel a bit slow when you're waiting for tables to be cleared. The vibe might turn a tad lively or rowdy on busier nights, and honestly, some areas like the toilets or outdoor spaces haven't always been as tidy as you'd hope, which is a shame. All in all, it's a decent choice if you're after a straightforward pub experience, especially for that Sunday carvery with all the trimmings, but I'd suggest popping in when it's quieter to get the best of it – just sharing the honest scoop so you can plan your visit wisely!

Really family-friendly setup, including an indoor play area for kids under 145cm, and even free play for tots under 1.
-
Some standout staff members who are super helpful and friendly, like the ones who went above and beyond in a few visits.
-
A solid spot for casual drinks and watching live sport, with outdoor dining options to enjoy the fresh air.
Cons
-
Service can be hit or miss, with reports of slow responses, wrong orders, and the occasional rude interaction.
-
The atmosphere might get a bit rowdy at times, which could put a damper on a relaxed evening out.
-
Maintenance isn't always top-notch, like messy toilets or broken glass in the garden that could spoil the experience.
-
Food and drink quality varies – some dishes are fine, but others fall short, and drinks might not always taste quite right.

215 booking - Young barman got kids dinner wrong, chips instead of mash, couldn't wait as toddler hungry. Lemonade was like soda so got it exchanged, man that led us to table was bit rude. Staff too slow in clearing empty tables. Girl came to clear our plates, no communication, ie: has everyone finished, felt like they wanted rid of us, the only lovely lady was the one doing the carving of meat, really friendly. Shame with this experience as new customers
I stayed at the Premier Inn THURROCK for 2 weeks and had breakfast daily in the restaurant and also dinner most days. The staff has been wonderful to me. Due to my schedule I had to have breakfast in my room and every night I picked up breakfast at the restaurant. They always helped me in any way they could. Thank you for your kindness and understanding. Good job.
Was a bit rowdy when we went in but it wasn’t in your face it was just some people ‘enjoying’ the local beverages.
Food was perfectly acceptable. If you don’t go in hoping for too draw cuisine then you’ll find the food very nice. Good selection of drinks served by a very friendly bar-staff member. Some recommendations from another staff member where very helpful and it was nice to see a youngster enjoying their work enough to go out of there way to help.
Tables where clean enough and the food was well presented.
All in all, if you want a meal with the family and don’t mind it being standard quality then you’ll enjoy this place.
There was no staff the garden was full of broken glass' this poor lad jack-den was doing everything on his own there was a mistake with a table in the next zone this poor boy done everything to make it right for them' he was so kind but still he was on his own' the toilets was horrible.
And better that no manager was in sight at all' the bar lady was on her own doing everything! Appalling place now!!!
I stayed at the Premier Inn with my family and close friends. After a few drinks at Lakeside we headed back to the hotel but decided to have a last drink in the Brewers. Jack served us and got to say, what a wonderful young man. His Mum should be proud of him as should his employers. He helped us try and order food on an app as the restaurant was closed, brought our drinks outside and even gave us a large jug if water with ice to take back to the room with us.
Total legend!
Next I'd like to praise Enkel, on a previous visit we had breakfast and nothing was too much trouble - we asked to move tables and this was done with no questions asked, food was brought out hot and enjoyable. This visit was just as good, Breakfast was buffet style this time but was replenished quickly and areas kept clean. Keep up the good work, we will definitely be back again!
