About This Pub
Ah, The Courtyard Inn – it's one of those places that sounds like it could be a right cosy hideaway, tucked away on Clarence Road in Grays. From what I've gathered from the chats online, it's got its highlights that make it appealing for a laid-back drink or a bite. Some folks absolutely love the vibe; you hear about the excellent beer and food that's surprisingly affordable, and it's kept in good nick, which always makes me think of settling in for a proper chat over a pint. One reviewer was chuffed with the friendly atmosphere and how everything felt just right for a casual outing. But, and there's always a but, isn't there? It seems like the music can crank up a notch too high, turning what should be a mellow pub evening into something more like a mini disco – imagine trying to catch up with your mates and ending up shouting over the tunes. Then there's the service; while it's spot on for some, others have had a rough time with staff who come across as a bit brusque, like that instance where someone was told to buy a drink or buzz off. And let's not forget the odd mention of it possibly being members only, which might leave you scratching your head at the door. Overall, it's a decent shout if you're after a lively spot with good value, but I'd say go in with your eyes open – pick a quieter time if you fancy a proper natter, and hope for the best on the service front. It's got that 4.0 rating going for it, so there's plenty to like, but it's not without its quirks.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere can be really welcoming and lively, making it a great spot for a casual get-together with friends.
-
They've got excellent beer and food options at prices that won't break the bank, which is always a win for a night out.
-
It's kept nice and clean, with some folks praising the good value on drinks – perfect for enjoying a pint without fuss.
Cons
-
The music tends to be blasted a bit too loud, which makes it tough to have a proper chat and can spoil the pub vibe.
-
Service can be hit or miss, with some reports of staff being a tad rude or unwelcoming, which puts a downer on things.
-
There's a bit of confusion around whether it's members only, and that might put people off if they're just popping in for a quick visit.

The problem is the music is too loud, you struggle to hear each other in the same table. So everyone has to shout above the music. The staff fail understand it’s a pub and not a disco.
A really nice pub, good atmosphere, friendly, excellent beer & food at very reasonable prices. Well worth a visit.
I didn't go in there.
Because I understand it's a Members Only club
Nice Cosmopolitan atmosphere... ESSEX
Rude and obnoxious staff. “Buy a drink or leave” was the uncouth bartender’s response to me being there only for minutes. Don’t waste your time going there 👎👎👎👎
Very nice clean and good price for beers
