About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about The Whitmore Arms – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a relaxed get-together or a special occasion. I've got to say, the food really stands out; think tasty seasonal dishes made with top-quality local produce, like those mouthwatering Sunday roasts or a cracking vegetable wellington that's spot on for veggies. The staff are an absolute delight, always cheerful and ready to help, which makes the whole experience feel personal and enjoyable. It's got that classic old-style feel with a cosy interior and lovely outdoor spaces for when the weather's on your side, making it ideal for families or a quiet meal with friends. On the flip side, it does get packed on busier days, so booking in advance is a smart move to skip any hassle, and the opening times can vary a tad, which might throw off your plans if you're not checking first. All in all, it's a gem of a spot that delivers on the good stuff, though it's worth noting it might lean a bit traditional for those seeking something more contemporary. If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend popping in for a bite – you won't be disappointed!

The operating hours seem a bit variable, which might catch you out if you're planning a spontaneous visit.
-
While the reviews are mostly glowing, there are hints of mixed feedback from some folks, so it might not suit everyone if you're after something more modern.

Enjoyed a very nice dinner (4 people). Our food was well presented, tasteful and a good size portion. Compliments to the chef. Our waitresses Gillian and Lesley Ann were professional, friendly and good fun. All in all a wonderful experience.
Had a lovely experience with two friends at the Whitmore with the food being great and the service too. As a vegetarian I had the Vegetable Wellington with creamy mashed potato and it was so tasty, can't wait to have it again! We hadn't been there for a long time because of mixed reviews from friends but will now certainly tell those friends to give it another go. Thank you for making my birthday even more special.
We visited The Whitemore Arms as a young family with our 6-month-old and had an absolutely brilliant experience. We each enjoyed a fabulous Sunday roast—easily five-star quality—and our little one was happy with his bottle while we tucked in.
What really stood out was how welcome we were made to feel. As any parent knows, taking a young child out can sometimes feel a bit stressful, and in some places, you’re made to feel like an inconvenience. That couldn’t have been further from the case here—the staff were incredibly friendly, warm, and accommodating from start to finish.
Great food, great atmosphere, and genuinely lovely people. Highly recommend, and we’ll definitely be back!
We have recently had two excellent meals at The Whitmore Arms, Orsett. Both meals were incredible and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Many thanks
This is now one of our favourite pubs! The food was amazing, quality impeccable and the service was lovely, friendly and prompt. We had a really lovely time and the pub has such a nice cosy atmosphere, I’m especially jealous of the little tea cups and teapots they had. Really recommend this place, so glad we stumbled upon it after our hospital trip!
