About This Pub
Oh, what a gem The Rose and Crown is, tucked away in the heart of rural Derbyshire. I've got to say, it's one of those places that just makes you feel at home from the moment you walk in, with its pretty white-brick facade and that sense of history dating back to 1786 – imagine, it started as a simple wooden shed for the coach trade! The food really steals the show; we're talking proper pub favourites like steak pies that fall apart just right or a Sunday lunch that's so generous you'll be loosening your belt afterwards. And let's not forget the bar, stocked with cask ales, wines, and gins that pair perfectly with a chat by the fire or out in the gardens on a sunny afternoon. It's brilliant for families or if you've got your dog in tow, as they make everyone feel welcome. On the flip side, it does tend to buzz with activity, so popping in unannounced might mean a wait, and being out in the countryside, it's not always the most convenient for a quick stop. Plus, with prices on the moderate side, it could dent the wallet a bit if you're planning a big meal. All in all, it's a solid choice for a proper pub experience – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, you won't regret it!
Pros and Cons

Cons
-
It can get quite busy, especially on weekends or for events, so you might want to book ahead to avoid any disappointment.
-
Being in a rural spot, it might not be the easiest place to pop into if you're not local, and parking could be a bit of a faff.
-
With moderate prices, a meal out here adds up, particularly if you're with a larger group tucking into those generous portions.

t was a family get together and the party was for 11 [including a 6 month baby] i had to increase the party size midweek from the original booking online.
The meal and service was first class and some of the party that have never been before were very impressed and will certainly be returning. I purposely chose the Rose & Crown as we often visit because of the quality of food and service. In these very difficult times for the industry it's great to see somewhere that keeps its standards at such a high level. Cannot recommend it highly enough
Been a few times for family events now. Always had great experiences. Dogs are made to feel very welcome. The steak and ale pie with special mash is excellent. Definitely recommend steak just fell apart.
We’ve been in England four days, and this is by far the best meal we’ve had yet. Holly was great! Thanks for a memorable dinner!
Just had another beautiful Sunday lunch here. The food is always spot on, the service is always fantastic and the pub is beautiful and rustic. I highly recommend
Great food, you won’t leave hungry! Walked in and managed to get a Sunday Roast without booking ahead. We had the pork belly roast and the pie of the day (which was steak) and as you can see it was a huge portion! They let the dog sit with us in the bar area too which is really appreciated. Staff were all friendly and helpful despite it being busy.
