About This Pub
Ah, The Hogs Head – it's one of those proper local pubs that just draws you in with its warm, welcoming charm. From what I've gathered from the reviews, the staff really stand out; they're brilliant, always ready with a smile and a good chat, making it feel like you're catching up with old mates rather than just popping in for a pint. The traditional design inside is spot on – think comfortable seating, a clean and cosy atmosphere, and loads of fun activities like pool, darts, and even karaoke for those who fancy a sing-along. It's great to see it's family-friendly too, so you could bring the little ones for a relaxed evening without any fuss. On the downside, a few people have pointed out that the toilets aren't always as tidy as they'd like, which can put a dampener on things, and the drink options seem a bit stuck in the past, not quite keeping up with what's on offer elsewhere. Still, with a solid 4.2 rating overall, it's clear this place does a lot right for a laid-back night out in Greengates. If you're after a no-frills spot for a good laugh and a few games, it's worth a visit, but maybe keep expectations realistic for the finer details.

Nice cozy pub good staff and a great local
Brilliant bar staff. A good local pub.
Great place if you want a good sing song. Drink options needs updating otherwise a good night. Pool table and darts available.
Family friendly.
A recently reopened local pub that is very local to us. It's a typical old style type stone built building. Traditional design inside, not fancy, but comfortable, warm, and clean. The toilet area I used was clean and fresh. There is an ample room for games, pool, darts, etc. Karaoke was fun and welcoming to anyone 😀 DJ being open for good fun and banter. A few great evenings there. Cannot rate the food aspect as I'm unaware whether they actually serve food at the moment anyway. Families are welcome, so it's a great place to spend a few hours for everyone.
Well what can I say. We went in late afternoon, one person was sat at the bar, bar man's mate by the looks of it. Ordered our drinks and sat down. My husband went to the loo said it wasn't great, unclean and didn't smell great. I needed the loo so off I went, well what can I say, they hadn't been cleaned, only one cubical had just enough toilet roll in there so I used it. I told the bar man that there was no toilet roll at all in the ladies, his response, yea I know, I've asked a member of staff to bring some in. Another couple came in. The lady went to the toilet came back out asking for some loo roll, again the bar man's response was the same, the lady and the bar man exchanged words, him saying it's not his fault, 🤷🏼♀️ he didn't seem to care either. My husband got up went to the gents and came out with a near full loo roll from the gents toilets, giving it to the woman. Definitely won't be rushing back, shame as it could be a really nice pub if given some TLC and if they had staff, management who actually cared about the place and their customers.
