About This Pub
Ah, The George – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a local gem, tucked away on Leeds Road in Bradford. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this warm, community vibe that's perfect for sinking a pint or catching up with mates over a game or two. The beers are a highlight; they've got a great selection that keeps things interesting, and the food doesn't disappoint either – think hearty, freshly made buffets that leave you satisfied without emptying your wallet. Events like poker nights are well-organised and add a fun twist, with staff who go the extra mile to make sure everyone's looked after. On the flip side, if you're planning a meal, you might end up waiting a bit longer than you'd like between courses, and if dogs aren't your thing, the conservatory area could be a bit of a mixed bag. Overall, it's a place I'd recommend for a relaxed evening, as long as you go in with realistic expectations – the good far outweighs the minor niggles, making it a top spot for us pub enthusiasts.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer selection is spot on, with options like Timothy Taylor's Blonde that really hit the mark for a refreshing pint.
-
Food comes in generous portions and is cooked nicely, making it a solid choice for a bite to eat while you're in.
-
It's great value for money, especially with events like poker tournaments that keep things lively without breaking the bank.
-
The staff are really pleasant and on point, always ready to fetch your drinks or help out.
-
They do a brilliant job with events and gatherings, creating a welcoming vibe that's perfect for a good night out.
Cons
-
There can be a bit of a wait between courses if you're having a meal, which might leave you twiddling your thumbs.
-
Dogs are allowed in certain areas, like the conservatory, and while it's fine for some, it could be a turn-off if you're not keen on furry friends around.
-
Watch out for the free curry at pool tournaments – it might not sit well, as one reviewer had a rather unfortunate experience!

Always a good crack in here. Good beer selection
Great location, food was plentiful and nicely cooked, though there was a lengthy wait between courses. We were conservatory, where dogs were allowed in, didn't bother us, but some people might not be keen.
I came in had great experience and great value for money at the pub but don’t eat the “free” curry at the pool tournaments my toilet might have to get a refurb 👍 but great pub would recommend to a friend x
I was invited to a poker tournament there, Fruday evening. 19 runners three tables. It was a well run tournament, with a good group of lads with varying experience. Shout out to Scarlet (I Think) who was ferrying drinks up stairs all night....I'll Be Back.
I went to a "Funeral Tea" at the George. The buffet was extremely good. You could tell everything was freshly made. I had a lovely pint of Timothy Taylor's Blonde. Very pleasant staff. Good pub, would highly recommend.
