About This Pub
Ah, the George & Dragon – it's one of those classic country pubs in Bradford that just feels like a proper hideaway, you know? I reckon it's spot on for a relaxed evening or a lazy Sunday lunch. The atmosphere is just lovely; picture yourself by a roaring fire on a chilly night, or out in that courtyard garden when the sun's out – it's all so inviting and makes you want to linger. The food's mostly a delight, with those hearty favourites and pub classics that pair brilliantly with their range of ales and gins; it's clear why folks rave about it. And the service? Well, the team there really go the extra mile, always with a smile and that warm, friendly touch that makes you feel right at home. But, let's be honest, it's not perfect – I've seen a few mentions of dishes like the lasagna or roast potatoes not quite hitting the mark, whether it's down to taste or temperature. Still, with such a solid overall feel, I'd say it's well worth popping in for a pint and a bite; just keep expectations in check for the odd off day, and you'll likely have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is generally spot-on, with hearty pub classics and seasonal dishes that really hit the spot, especially on the lunchtime menu.
-
Service is brilliant – the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
-
It's got a lovely, cosy atmosphere with roaring fires in the winter and a charming courtyard garden for sunnier days.
-
Dog-friendly setup, perfect if you're out for a walk along the nearby canal and fancy a pit stop.
-
Great value for money, and they've a well-stocked bar with cask ales, fine wines, and British gins to suit all tastes.
Cons
-
Some dishes can fall short, like the lasagna which didn't quite live up to expectations in terms of quality and flavour.
-
Occasional issues with food preparation, such as roast potatoes that weren't crispy and seemed reheated, leaving them less than hot.
-
There might be a bit of inconsistency from one visit to the next, so it's not always a guaranteed winner.

Had a great evening. Food was top notch with fantastic service too……. Very impressed, especially for a Monday night.
Hats off to Megan, Paige, James + Ross & Tom in the kitchen. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Usually visit earlier in the week and have the lunchtime menu but was Friday so full menu. Food good, service (waiter Joe) very good. It is a regular of ours and it’s always welcoming and good value.
Service was great, staff were brilliant. The food (certainly the lasagna) needs improving, i wouldnt come again just because when your food exceeds a certain cost you expect a certain standard, I have honestly had the same lasagne at a budget restaurant many times, nothing made it special, or made me think it was woth paying 50% more for, so maybe we pay for the service but i tip them to reflect this, the food is the problem for me.
Fantastic cosy pub, the food and service are great lovely menu and really pretty inside. Will definitely return
I had the triple meat roast today. The staff were welcoming enough and the pub has a lovely atmosphere. The roast lunch was OK nothing special but the roast potatoes were awful, they were not crispy and I could tell they were cooked much earlier and reheated. The potatoes were not hoti and I did not eat them. I was disappointed as i was looking forward to crispy potatoes, perhaps it was a one off. Everything else was good. The fruit crumble was a bit tart and the crumble was scanty please use more crumble.
Hopefully, things will be improved upon.
