About This Pub
You know, when I think about Gallows Inn, it really warms my heart how they've turned things around – it used to be a bit off-putting from the outside, but now it's all spruced up and buzzing with positive energy. The team there are just gems, always ready with a smile and making sure everyone feels welcome, which is spot on for a relaxed evening by the water. They've got a great range of beers and the odd live performance that livens things up, making it ideal if you're cycling along the Erewash Valley Trail or moored up nearby. On the downside, their website's a bit of a let-down at the moment, so you might struggle to get the lowdown online before you go, and the hours can seem a tad confusing, but overall, it's a solid choice for a proper pub experience. I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just go with the flow and enjoy the canal views with a drink in hand.
Pros and Cons
Pros

The staff are absolutely brilliant – friendly, cheerful, and always up for a chat, making you feel right at home.
-
It's got a cracking location right by the canal, perfect for soaking up the scenery with a pint in hand, especially on a sunny day.
-
They've done a top-notch job with the renovations; the place feels fresh, clean, and welcoming now.
-
A solid selection of beers and a lively atmosphere, with live acts and events that add a bit of buzz to the evening.
Cons
-
The website seems to be playing up, which might make it tricky to check menus or opening times before you head over.
-
From what I've heard, it wasn't always this inviting, so if you're popping in for the first time, it might depend on recent updates.
-
The operating hours look a bit muddled in the details, so you might want to double-check to avoid any surprises.

As a boater with a home mooring at Langley Mill, I have been past this pub many times in the past, and quite frankly, it had been very uninviting. However, having seen it has recently changed hands and been renovated, we decided to give it a try.
We are so glad we did. Paula and her team have done a fantastic job renovating the pub, externally the pub is very inviting, to the point we left the boat in the lock whilst we went in to get a pint. Internally, whilst we didn't have food, staff were exceedingly friendly, the atmosphere was very inviting, and the beer was fantastic.
Since that first visit, we have been stopping by for our takeaway pint when working the boats through the locks. If we are able to, it has become our overnight stop of choice, and we highly recommend all passing boaters to give it a try. If you are local and you haven't been in since the refurbishment, you REALLY MUST.
Paula, we hope to see you and the team tonight.
Stopped for a pint on our bike ride! Good pint and lovely clean pub you can sit outside the canal which is great
Really well appointed pub now it's been refurbished. Good selection of beers too.
I'm moored up very close on my narrowboat can't get any further not enough water 3ft " draught.
Must have met all the staff by now and thay are cheerful nothings to much trouble really friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Had a live act singing yesterday and she was very good glad she was there. Unlike most pub singers this lady was well up to the job.
Nice pub at the side of a canal lock system. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Lovely during the summer to watch the barges go by while having a nice beer or two. Packed outside today with a barbecue
