About This Pub
Ah, you know, when I think about Burnt Pig Ale 'Ouse, it just brings a smile – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper hidden treat in Ilkeston. The beers and ales are spot on, with a huge range that's always in top form, and I've heard from loads of folks that it's the kind of place where you can try something new and not be disappointed. The staff are absolute stars, always up for a chat and making sure you're looked after, which really adds to that cosy, traditional feel with the log burners flickering away. They've got some tasty grub on offer too, like those cheeses and pies that go down a treat with a good pint. On the flip side, it's a small spot that fills up in no time, so if you're after a quiet corner, you might need to time your visit just right or be prepared for a bit of a squeeze. And let's be honest, it's not the easiest to find without a bit of local knowledge, and the lack of a website means you're going in blind sometimes. All in all, though, it's a brilliant little boozer that does the classics so well – I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the mood for some genuine pub charm.

What a hidden gem! Set amongst some old terraced houses, barely noticeable, is this absolute banger of a quirky traditional pub serving a huge selection of beers and delicious ales. I won't ruin it by describing the decor, visit and see for yourself! Several rooms to choose from with log burners for colder days. A huge fridge full of incredible cheeses and pies. Don't be put off by the name, but the charcoal pork pie is the tastiest pie I've ever had! Absolutely massive too so easily enough for two people.
An absolute must visit if you're anywhere near. We traveled from Derby and it was worth the drive even for just one pint.
Friendly service and lovely locals. We'll be back!
Brilliant pub, wonderful staff and patrons. A good selection of well kept beer.
Got to be up there amongst the best pubs around. Pure quality from the ales (I had Pheasantry Pale) to the food (cheeses & pies) and the decor with all the pub paraphernalia. Top class atmosphere from the regulars and staff working here. Sorry I had to move on.
Whatever great things you have read about this pub ARE ALL true ! Once inside you're impressed by the friendly welcome by the bar staff and the array of different beers on offer. The locals are very welcoming and this admittedly quite small pub gets very busy very quickly. It's amazing what can be achieved in 3 small rooms! Quirky but traditional decor add to the atmosphere. If you are on the lookout for a friendly micropub then this ticks all the boxes. Check it out . M
P.S, the Pork Pies are divine !
Visited on Saturday 3rd December 2022 mid afternoon.
Traditional ale house, warm and cosy with 3 small rooms rather than 1 large space, bar is in the first room, fire is in the second.
Went for an Urban Chicken tap takeover so all cask was obviously Urban Chicken; however, normally it's a mix of breweries, styles & ABVs alongside ciders, lager and some decent keg offerings.
The place was absolutely packed but everyone got served, no one cut in, and everyone was friendly, it has a real sense of community.
Getting there from Derby is super easy, the Ilkeston flyer drops you off outside The Crafty One (Health Centre bus stop) the Burnt Pig is down the side street next to The Crafty One (which is also excellent).
We'll definitely be back.
