About This Pub
You know, when I think about the Davy Lamp, it's got that real community feel that's just spot on for a good night out. The staff are absolute gems – always up for a chat and making sure everyone's sorted – and the place itself is nice and tidy, which makes it a comfortable spot to settle in. I love how they've got all these fun things lined up, like karaoke or a quiz night, so it's never dull, and the prices on drinks are fair enough that you can enjoy a few without worrying too much. It's also spot on for hosting a get-together in their big function room, whether it's for a birthday bash or something a bit more low-key. On the downside, though, those smokers hanging about outside the door can make the entrance a bit of a chore, especially if you're not keen on the whiff of smoke. And from what I've heard, there might be the odd issue with getting into the car park, like with road works or cones blocking the way, which could spoil the experience for some. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're after a welcoming pub with plenty of character, but it's worth keeping those little annoyances in mind before you head over.

Didn't have food. Nice atmosphere, friendly service.
I visited The Davy Lamp in Ilkeston earlier to write a review and had an interesting experience. A group of gentlemen arrived around 4:00 PM. Since the road outside was closed, one of them carefully moved a cone to access the car park, which appeared to be a safe and practical option. However, as he approached the entrance, a woman in a white T-shirt and jeans began shouting loudly, referring to him as a 'dickhead' for moving the cones. This seemed to put the group off, and they chose to leave instead of staying.
It's always great to see rules enforced, but perhaps a more polite and welcoming approach would create a better experience for customers. Has anyone else had a similar experience at The Davy Lamp? I'd love to hear your thoughts
Lovely and clean pub with friendly staff. Reasonable price drinks with plenty to choose from. Nice big function room with lots of seating and a stage. Always something on from pool and darts night to karoke, sticky 13's, bingo, quiz's, penny raffle and bounus ball. Definitely recommend weather your single, couples or a family.
Dog friendly
Room hired for a baby shower, really clean and well presented.
Staff were polite and friendly, there are 3 pool tables prices at .60p for one game and £1 for two games.
There is a car park which would hold probably 12-15 cars.
Bonus they sell Stella 🥳
Good local pub with a good size area inside. Nice for small functions such as weddings, funeral wakes and birthdays. Staff are really nice and friendly. The only downside is the smokers outside the main door as you go in, you can cut the smoke with a knife
