About This Pub
Ah, The Latch Lifter – it's one of those places that really stands out for its vibrant live music scene, where you can catch gigs most weekends and soak up that fun, energetic atmosphere with all the music memorabilia around. I love how it's got this big, cosy layout with balconies that make it feel special, and the staff are just lovely, always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels welcome. Plus, the prices are spot on for a casual night out, so you won't feel like you're spending a fortune. On the flip side, though, I've heard some stories about the owner not treating the team too well, which is a real shame and might leave you feeling a bit uncomfortable. It can also be quiet at times, and the food's nothing to get excited about – more of a basic option really. All in all, if you're after a good laugh and some tunes, it's worth popping in, but go in with your eyes open to the occasional downsides.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The live music is absolutely brilliant, with gigs every weekend that really get the atmosphere buzzing and make for a memorable night out.
-
It's a spacious and cosy spot with balconies and loads of music-themed decor, giving it that warm, inviting feel.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
Prices for drinks and food are pretty reasonable, so you can enjoy a good time without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
There have been reports of the owner being quite rude to the staff, which can put a damper on the experience and make you think twice about returning.
-
It can sometimes feel a bit empty when you first arrive, which might make the place seem a tad underwhelming at the start.
-
The food is just passable – nothing special, so if you're after a proper meal, you might want to look elsewhere.
-
The opening hours are a bit hit and miss, with the pub only open a few days a week, which could limit your options for a spontaneous visit.

Recent Reviews
A cosy, and rather big venue, with balconies all around. Decorated with lots of music-stuff.
Lots of live music every weekend.
Good staff.
For 3rd year doing a gig there.
Good atmosphere.
Nice pub with live music acts on. Friendly staff.
Went here the other night. It was empty so I was a bit skeptical. However made to feel right at home. It was interesting we HAD to order food and drinks separately but that didn't matter. The food was passable but prices were cheap so I can deal with that. The staff were really friendly. The young woman hosting was smiley and friendly so this review is more for the customer services and vibe of the venue. Anywhere that plays Pearl Jam is a ok in my book.
Sat in there last night, being a landlady myself and how the owner spoke to his staff was absolutely vile. If it was my daughter ...... well .... maybe some manager skill course wouldn't go amiss.... I wouldn't be returning there, nor would I recommend the place....
What a great venue, staff really friendly and The Joneses (Morrissey tribute) were really excellent, great sound and a really happy fun vibe about the place. Will be back!!
