About This Pub

Ah, Ye Olde Crown in Rayleigh – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From the moment you step in, the staff go out of their way to make you feel at home, with their friendly chats and efficient service that keeps everything running smoothly. The food's a real highlight too; think classic pub fare like burgers and steaks that hit the spot, paired with a solid drinks menu that's got something for everyone, whether you're in the mood for a quality pint or a cheeky cocktail. And don't forget the pub garden – it's a lovely spot to enjoy the fresh air on a sunny day, especially if you've brought the dog along. On the flip side, the hours can be a bit of a mixed bag, with some days wrapping up earlier than you'd hope, so it's worth double-checking if you're planning a longer evening. Overall, it's a welcoming place that does the basics brilliantly, and I'd say it's well worth a visit for anyone looking for good grub, great company, and that easy-going pub atmosphere without breaking the bank.

  • Fantastic food and drink selection, from hearty pub classics and sizzling steaks to a cracking range of beers, wines, and cocktails that cater to all tastes.

  • It's dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're popping in with your furry friend for a relaxed afternoon.
  • Great value for money with inexpensive prices and tempting offers like daily deals, making it an easy choice for a casual get-together.
Cons
  • The operating hours can be a tad inconsistent or on the early side in places, so you might need to plan ahead if you're hoping for a late-night session.
  • While the atmosphere is spot on, it might get a bit quiet at times, which could mean missing out on that lively buzz if you're after a more energetic crowd.

Jas, JAZ (didn't forget), and Rel, absolute legends. What a team. Great food, top drink selection, and service that never misses a beat. They’ve even added more tables out back in the sun trap, with a few brollies in case you’re more “pint in the shade” than “sunburn and lager.” Without a doubt, the best food on Rayleigh High Street. The Cowboy Burger is a must, and no, don’t go removing patties like a some people... Always a laid-back vibe, no drama,. You’ve got darts, a jukebox, a pool table, and enough TVs to keep any footie fan happy. A proper local favourite. Highly recommend.

Didn't have food, hence no rating. Haven't been to Rayleigh for some time, but had the pleasure of spending just over an hour today there at lunch time. What a proper pub. All ages represented and a warm welcome from the excellent bar staff. Friendly atmosphere and enjoyed our Guinness and Bacardi / diet cokes sat where the 2 bar areas meet. Wish we lived nearer and best wishes. Cliff & Lauraine.
