About This Pub

Ah, The Roebuck – it's one of those dependable Wetherspoon haunts that you can rely on for a good, affordable pint without any fuss. I've heard from a few mates that it's spot on for value, with drinks and meals coming in at prices that won't dent your wallet, and the staff are always chipping in with a smile to make you feel right at home. It's a lovely spot to settle in with friends over a craft beer or two, especially when it's quieter in the mornings or early afternoons – the clean surroundings really add to that relaxed charm. On the downside, it seems the food can be a bit of a lottery; some have raved about delicious ramen and quick service, but others have had rough patches with cold chips or dishes that didn't agree with them at all, which is a shame when you're looking forward to a proper meal. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual drink in Rayleigh, but maybe play it safe and focus on the bevvies if you're not in the mood for any surprises.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic value for drinks and meals, making it a brilliant spot for a budget-friendly catch-up with friends.
  • Friendly staff who always seem welcoming and attentive, adding to the relaxed vibe.
  • A great selection of craft beers and other options, perfect for those who fancy something a bit different.
  • Clean facilities and a generally peaceful atmosphere, especially if you pop in earlier in the day.
Cons
  • Food can be hit or miss, with some reports of cold dishes or items not available, which might spoil the experience.
  • Occasional disappointments like meals that don't sit well, so it's worth being cautious with what you order.
  • The place might get a bit lively or crowded later on, potentially losing that cosy feel.

Started off poorly half the kids menu was not available which only found out after placing order, but worse to come my burger didn't taste great and cold chips and onion rings but was so hungry carried on eating it. Hour later it all came back up! Luckily my boy didn't eat most of his otherwise would be even more upset!😡

You just can't beat a weatherspoons! Although the food here was better than I've been elsewhere and quick too considering there were nine of us, including some specific dietary requirements

Pretty decent venue. Great value drinks, before heading somewhere with music. Great place to meet with friends, without having to worry about shouting over the top of music. Nice range of craft beer.

Had a lovely lunch today, ramen noodles were absolutely delicious 😋 and everyone enjoyed their food. Extremely good value for money. All the staff were really friendly and the toilets were clean. We will definitely go back again.

Lovely pub but we only popped in for a cuppa. We really felt relaxed in The Roebuck & would definitely recommend it. We didn't have a chance to eat here so can't comment on the food. We were there around 10am so it was quiet. The eveycould be another story.
