About This Pub
You know, when I think about William The Fourth, it's one of those pubs that really warms you up on a chilly London evening. They've breathed new life into this old boozer with Exale Brewing at the helm, offering a brilliant range of fresh beers, cocktails, and wines that pair perfectly with their mouthwatering pizzas and other dishes from Short Road. I love how the staff are so attentive and make you feel right at home, whether you're there for a casual drink or sorting out a big group gathering – they've even got free spaces for parties, which is a nice touch. The atmosphere's spot on for catching the footy or enjoying live music and quizzes, especially with that beer garden for sunnier days. But, let's be honest, it can get a bit lively with the TVs turned up during matches, which might not be everyone's cup of tea if you're after a peaceful chat. Overall, it's a solid choice for a good time in Leyton, as long as you're up for the energy – I'd say give it a go and see for yourself!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer selection is absolutely spot on, with 14 lines of fresh brews and cask ales from Exale Brewing – perfect for a proper pint with mates.
-
The food's a real treat, especially those pizzas from Short Road; they're crispy, bold, and blend Italian and American flavours brilliantly.
-
The staff are incredibly helpful and welcoming, always going the extra mile to sort out things like allergies or special requests.
-
It's got a great vibe for events, with quiz nights, live music, and plenty of space for parties in their private rooms or beer garden.
-
A relaxed, old-school atmosphere that captures the best of the East End, making it feel like a cosy local hangout for watching sports or just chatting.
Cons
-
It can get quite noisy with the TVs blasting football matches, which might put off anyone looking for a quieter spot.
-
The hours are a bit limited on some days, like closing early on Mondays, so it might not suit late-night plans.
-
While the prices are moderate, some might find the atmosphere a tad overwhelming during busy events, especially if you're sensitive to crowds or sound.

The pub looking great with Exale folk now in charge. Pizza was excellent and nice range of beer and cocktails. Good buzz. Top new local!
Food and service were great. My experience was unfortunately marred by noise due to TV football in both bar and dining area. I normally avoid sports pubs and am noise sensitive but I thought Sunday lunch would be ok. At first levels in the dining area were bearable but then the sound was turned up. I moved immediately to the bar but then moved again to a table by the door. I quickly finished my meal and hurriedly left. I suggested to one of the bar staff that having the dining area quiet on a Sunday might provide more custom, as it was relatively empty. I wouldn't eat at KW IV again.
I went with my friends for our Christmas meal on Wednesday last week, the staff could not have been more helpful as we had an allergy to contend with and they were brilliant, so accommodating. We had the private area at the back of the pub with Christmas music, decorations and crackers, we even had our own loo! Then for the food which was amazing, so many Christmas dinner menus promise the world and let you down on the quality but this didn’t it was superb, and special mention to the roast potatoes, I have never had roast potatoes that good outside of someone’s home, they were outstanding. The whole meal was lovely and so tasty and the staff so nice and friendly. I Will definitely be back again in future and have been telling everyone I know how good it was. Thank you for making it such a good night, and as the organiser completely stress free for me
during my holiday in London, I ate excellent food in this pub, I had fish and chips, really very good, generous portion accompanied with fantastic secret sauces made by the chefs (Santolo and Concetta).
satisfied with the dish, I went back in the following days and had a really excellent meat accompanied with green beans, potatoes and Yorkshire puding... the food woowww it's all VERY GOOD.
I will stay here again as soon as I'm in London again
Fantastic local, now offering hearty Sunday roasts. Probably the best Guinness in London, this is a welcoming pub with friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Come here to watch the football or just for a quiet pint. It feels like a vestige of the old East End in the best possible way.
