About This Pub

Ah, The European Pub – what a lovely spot it's turned out to be in the heart of London. From what I've gathered from folks who've been there, it's all about that exceptional food; the French chef's touch makes every meal feel special, whether you're opting for pub classics or something a bit more adventurous. Pair that with a great range of beers and wines, and you've got yourself a proper evening sorted. The atmosphere is spot on too – tastefully done up with a traditional charm that makes you feel right at home, and don't forget the roof terrace for those nicer days when you fancy a bit of fresh air. On the flip side, it can get lively with families and the little ones, which is brilliant if that's your thing, but might put off those after a peaceful pint. Plus, the hours aren't always crystal clear, and without a phone number, it's a smidge inconvenient for last-minute plans. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting good grub and good times, just keep those points in mind for the best experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is absolutely spot on – that French chef really knows their stuff, with dishes that are beautifully cooked and full of flavour.
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers, wines, and cask ales, so you're spoilt for choice if you're after a proper pint.
  • The pub's been tastefully renovated, giving it a lovely traditional feel that's just right for a cosy catch-up with mates.
  • Service is top-notch and welcoming; the staff go the extra mile, like sorting out water and treats for dogs without you even asking.
  • It's got a great atmosphere that's perfect for popping in after a walk, with a roof terrace that's ideal for sunnier days.
Cons
  • It can get a bit noisy with kids around, especially in the evenings, which might not suit everyone looking for a quiet drink.
  • The operating hours seem a tad confusing from what's listed, so it's worth double-checking before you head out.
  • There's no phone number available, which makes it a bit tricky if you want to sort out bookings or ask a quick question.

EDIT: Went again 26th May 2025 and thankfully the high standard of cooking has been maintained. Excellent French chef. Totally knows how to cook! A welcome addition to the area. Pub has been tastefully renovated. Food exceptional and beautifully cooked by the French chef. Decent range of beers, wines and other drinks. Service friendly. I imagine this place will get very busy. Delighted to have this fab gastro booozer on our doorstep.

This pub is brilliant. We went for an impromptu Sunday lunch. We sat next to the open kitchen so we could see how carefully they prepared the food - which tasted fantastic. The service of the bar staff was amazing, bringing our dog water and treats without even asking for it. The overall decor of the place felt up market and well looked after. Can’t wait to go back.

This wasn’t our first choice of pub after we had been out for a long walk in Victoria Park. However, our bus terminated directly outside. We looked in the door of The European & it looked very traditional & was quiet around 1330 so we decided to pop in. SO HAPPY WE DID!!! Atmosphere was lovely and comfortable, bar staff were amazingly friendly & the food was great, very fresh and filling. Luckily, we live less than a 20 min walk from here & have been spoken non stop this afternoon about making this our local. We will return very soon. Thank you! Hopefully, they atmosphere, staff, food & service remains the same for the future.

Excellent pub, good selection of 3 cask ales, all kept well. The food is excellent, offers pub favourites and something a bit different. Will be back

Really welcome addition to the area, they serve cask ale and the food is really good too. Looking forward to coming again and trying something else. We came at 4pm on a Friday and there were a few screaming kids, but I guess that comes with the territory in Leyton.
