About This Pub
Ah, Whyte Melville – it's one of those pubs that really sticks in your mind as a proper gem in Boughton. From what I've gathered, the food is where it shines brightest; folks rave about the amazing meals, whether it's a hearty Sunday roast or those Wednesday steak nights with unbeatable discounts and flavours that are just spot on. The service is another highlight – the team comes across as genuinely friendly and attentive, making it feel like a relaxed spot for a catch-up with friends or even a family outing. And let's not forget the setting; it's in this beautiful Georgian building with stylish interiors that blend the old and new, plus a walled garden for summer sipping and log burners to keep things snug in winter. It's all about that comfortable, homely feel that makes you want to linger. On the downside, though, a couple of people have mentioned some frustrations, like the menu not quite matching what's on the website, which could put a dampener on things if you're set on a particular dish. Still, with such a strong overall rating and positive buzz, it's worth giving it a go – just pop in with an open mind and you'll likely have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely top-notch, with standout dishes like their steak nights that leave you craving more – it's all about that unreal taste and great value.
-
The service is warm and welcoming, making you feel like you're catching up with old mates; the team goes out of their way to ensure everyone has a brilliant time.
-
It's got a cracking atmosphere in a stunning Georgian building, with a walled garden for sunny days and cosy log burners for those chilly evenings – perfect for unwinding.
Cons
-
There can be some menu mix-ups, like what's advertised online not matching what's on offer, which might lead to a bit of disappointment on your visit.
-
A few experiences have been inconsistent, especially if it's not your first time, so it might not always live up to the hype straight away.

Amazing food! Wednesdays are a steak night and always very good discounts on steak. Taste is unreal.
We visited Friday 630pm with my family 5 adults and our grandchildren 3 young children 8, 6 and 1. I normally don't review but after reading re the children not made welcome and Jeremy rudeness I had to add balance.
Jeremy welcomed us like old friends (I don't know him personally). Showed us to our table. Without being asked He made a great point of saying they don't have a children menu as such but if there was nothing they liked they offered pizza, mac and cheese or fish fingers with chips etc. I think this covers most children e. The specials were porterhouse steaks which myself and 2 sons couldn't resist. No rush on the table for which we were previously told 2 hours which was fine. The food was great, service was good. As said not the cheapest but it's a nice place. We have been a dozen times, as a couple and friends. We have always found Jeremy and his staff great. I wouldn't be put off if you have well behaved

Slightly disappointed with our second visit.
Sunday lunch menu was not the same menu as advertised on the website.
When we advised of our disappointments on the menu. We were advised of this being a sample menu which you would assume being what is on offer for this sitting.
Little did we know this was not the case and with no other white meat substitute to offer.
The host’s attitude towards the comments were very negative and not apologetic in any way or form. Borderline rude! .
He even suggested taking our drinks away if this was the case & to find elsewhere!
Our main arrive before we had finished our starter where he turned quickly and took it away.
Obviously sat on a hot plate keeping warm while we finished as this was evident in the gravy thickened around the edge! And the purée was stuck to the plate.
Shamefully we have recommended many friend to here after our initial visit!! Silly us!!
Left a very bitter taste in our mouths and we will not be back nor recommend them to anyone ever again.
Definitely marmite!!
My partner and I went for a meal tonight, first time visiting , and it was probably one of the best meals we’ve had. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was exceptional! I didn’t quite catch the names of people that were waiting on us but the young lad with curly blonde hair was super friendly and lovely. We thought it was excellent how the specials board was bought over and spoke through with us too!
Overall we had a brilliant time and would definitely visit again!
1st time visit for a birthday and was not disappointed. Great food and service in a wonderful setting.
Will be back.
