About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Olde Cobbler – it's this cosy spot in Kingsthorpe that's just been given a fresh makeover, and it's become a real favourite for a good meal out. I love how they've got something for everyone, whether you're popping in for a hearty weekend breakfast, a light lunch, or one of their special nights like burger Mondays or steak Fridays; the food's always spot on, with quality ingredients that make every bite worthwhile. The team's brilliant too, going above and beyond for events – we heard about a wedding that went off without a hitch, thanks to their top-notch organisation. And don't forget the beer garden; it's ideal for a sunny afternoon, especially if you've got a well-behaved dog in tow. On the flip side, it does fill up quickly, so booking's a must to snag a table, and with prices potentially shifting, it's worth keeping an eye on that. All in all, it's a welcoming place that strikes a great balance, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're after a relaxed pint and a bite with mates.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely brilliant – from tasty roasts and cajun chicken burgers to fresh seabass and weekend breakfasts, it's all homemade and delicious.
  • The atmosphere is so welcoming and relaxed, especially in the newly refurbished bar, restaurant, and beer garden, making it a great spot for families, friends, or even a quick pitstop.
  • They're spot on for events; the function room is perfect for weddings, baby showers, or parties, with fantastic organisation and support from the team.
  • It's dog-friendly in the garden and hard-floored areas, which is a lovely touch if you're out for a walk and fancy a break.
  • Free parking and complimentary Wi-Fi add a nice convenience, so you can pop in without any hassle.
Cons
  • It can get really busy, especially at peak times, so you'll want to book ahead to avoid disappointment.
  • Prices might change unexpectedly due to market fluctuations, which could make planning a bit tricky.
  • One minor grumble from a visit was a suggestion for a small improvement – perhaps something like better portion options or a quick fix in service, though it's not a big deal overall.

We hosted a wedding party there and from the initial meeting to the end of the event Tom, Meghan and the team were absolutely fantastic. Their support, organisation and advice made it the most incredible day. The food was outstanding, the function room and garden absolutely spot on. All the guests praised the pub, food, staff and drink. We could not have asked for it to have gone any better. The Olde Cobbler helped finish the wedding on a real high. I would 100% recommend holding an event here, they just took all the stress away. Thank you so much

what a lovely Modern Pub. Really fresh very welcoming and the food was very tasty. Was there for a baby shower that was held in a room separate from the main arena but not away from the rest if the world so still very much a part if it all. Will recommend to others. my only comment would be "please remember spoons for dessert going forward" Ice-cream with a fork isn't easy when it's melting! Otherwise Amazing.

Always great food and service whether visiting for Breakfast lunch or dinner. Really good home cooked roast on a Sunday. Delicious cajun chicken burgers and the Seabass was amazing. Can get very busy in the restaurant so definitely book at busy times.

Didn't book on a Saturday lunch. Seated fine. They lady was very kind to my elderly nan. She offered a smaller portion of ham and eggs and discounted it. My nan was sad she didn't have change for a tip so will make up for it next time. It was our first visit here and will come again

As a bicycle rider, I found this place to be the perfect pitstop before continuing long journey. The beautiful and clean outdoor seating area provided a refreshing break from the road. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, making it an ideal spot to recharge. The food was also great, with a number of selection of starters that were both delicious and energizing. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant and hospitable experience. Fantastic choice for cyclists looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stopover. Highly recommended!
