About This Pub
Ah, Sunnyside – it's one of those pubs that really grows on you once you get past the initial look of things. I have to say, the staff stand out as the real stars; they're so friendly and efficient, always making sure you're looked after, which makes popping in for a pint or a meal feel like catching up with mates. The food's generally spot on too – think hearty portions of pub classics like fish and chips or a juicy burger, and with deals like 30% off mains, it's brilliant value without breaking the bank. That beer garden is a gem on a sunny day, perfect for relaxing with a drink and making memories, whether you're with the family or just friends. But, let's be honest, it's not all sunshine and roses; the place does look a tad worn out in spots, and I've heard tales of waits dragging on or the odd disappointing dish that doesn't live up to expectations. Still, from what I've seen in the reviews, things seem to have picked up under new management, so it's worth giving it a go if you're in Northampton. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out, as long as you keep your expectations realistic and maybe check those offers twice before diving in.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant and make you feel right at home with their upbeat and friendly service.
-
The food is fresh, tasty, and offers great value, especially with those tempting offers like 30% off mains.
-
It's got a lovely beer garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun on a summer's day, making it ideal for gatherings.
-
There's a wide variety of pub grub on the menu, from classic fish and chips to burgers and salads, so there's something for everyone, including families.
-
It's a solid spot for watching live sports and enjoying family-friendly events, with plenty of cosy spaces inside for chillier weather.
Cons
-
The place can look a bit tired and dated, both outside and in, which might put you off at first glance.
-
Food service can be hit or miss, with some reports of long waits even when it's not too busy, leading to frustration.
-
Quality isn't always consistent – a few meals have been disappointing, like that dodgy starter mentioned in reviews.
-
Special offers could do with clearer details, as it's easy to get caught out by the small print on what's included.
-
It's your typical pub chain fare, so if you're after something really unique or gourmet, it might not quite hit the mark.

A bit tired looking outside and in. But don't let that put you off. Staff are excellent. Food is freshly cooked and excellent value. Wide variety of drinks and a great spot outside for the sun worshippers.
Went for a quiet catch up and ended up having a great time playing football in the beer garden and making some great memories.
The staff were upbeat and the food was prepared in good time and the portions were decent, it is pub chain food so set realsitic expectations.
Having had an issue with a neighbour to the pub the staff dealt with this quickly and efficiently.
We shall indeed be back again and thank you for making this place feel so welcoming.
Special shout-out to my serving BFF Jamie, best pint pulling, banter having guy in Sunnyside.
See you all soon
I visited the Sunnyside pub at the start of the week with my sister, daughter & nephew.
After nearly an hour wait for our food although it was not busy, we were shocked at the state of our meals.
Our starter was horrific. What was supposed to be chicken drizzled in bbq sauce topped with rocket, was burnt chicken with bbq sauce sachets left on top.
The halloumi baguette came out as a hot dog roll, with no maple sauce as stated on the menu.
The children’s burger was dry, no lettuce, again as stated on the menu.
The chips were cold on each meal.
After getting no response to the email I sent, I would never recommend going here if you’re wanting somewhat nice food.
Today I returned to the Sunnyside Pub after being so disappointed 8 months ago.. I can happily say its now under new management and what a fantastic surprise, the pub was clean tidy, the staff were superbly friendly, the service was great the food was lovely especially the Pizza....!
Quick service and a really nice atmosphere for a Monday music videos on the TV screens, which was a really nice change from football on my previous visit 8 months ago.
I was also taken back by the fantastic service given to a group of individuals who were eating nearby. Also new benches outside has made the world of difference.
It now feels like the bright Sun has now returned to the sunny side. I will be back ..!
MOTHERS DAY REVIEW....
Firstly I'd like to thank you..! to the people on Table 35, who decided to order just before me.. and said to the bar staff their table number was 29...I somewhat surprised...to find that my table was also 29 ..? As I took my place waited and ordered..to then be told you have already ordered...which at that point the the penny dropped...the mystery customers on table 35 had orderd for my table... I thought wow how generous....! But alas No...!
They couldn't be arsed to read the table number and guessed because they were clearly to lazy to walk back to the table to get the right number...thus causing confusion, as the bar staff went looking for the table ... then going to the kitchen and telling the chef "any orders for 29 are for 35 and any orders for 35 are for 29"...
Unfortunately at point I'd already been waiting 20 minutes order and watched several customers jump into my space whilst I waited ...Unfortunately I was told the dish I wanted was gone and sold out...! And it will be a half hour wait on your order....! I returned to my table to inform my family I haven't orders anything yet and their will still be a half hour wait... and what confusion had been caused by the customers on table 35...
We spent 40 minutes in a pub no order no food no drinks and I will say the music's too loud..! even the bar staff were shouting to hear...we then decided to leave as our time had been wasted...I even said goodbye to the bar staff and said cheers as I left...he was polite enough to say "have a good one"..
So the moral of the story is ..if your a customer get the bloody table number right ...as your laziness cost the pub money and another customers a monthersday meal....!
A good place for good value food. Service was very good. Pricing for special offers could be more transparent (for example, what is included, what you can have for extra, when the offers don't apply etc) but basically if you're happy to read the small print you can get a bargain meal.
