About This Pub

Ah, the Wheatsheaf in Tooting – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot every time. From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, the food is an absolute winner; think mouth-watering Sunday roasts with generous portions, crispy roasties, and even a trio option if you're feeling indulgent. It's not just the grub that's spot on – the garden out back is a real gem for soaking up the sun with a cold one in hand, and the overall vibe is so relaxed and welcoming, with some cracking indie and rock tunes playing in the background. The staff really make it shine too; they're quick, friendly, and go out of their way to make you feel at home, like remembering to bring that extra gravy or chatting away like old pals. On the flip side, though, the website's a bit of a letdown – it's not very helpful for getting the lowdown before you go, which might leave you scratching your head. Plus, the operating hours listed are a bit muddled, so it's worth confirming to avoid any mix-ups, and given how popular it is, you might find yourself in a queue on busier days. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night out or a lazy lunch, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area – just take it as it comes and you'll have a lovely time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely delicious with a fantastic variety, from hearty Sunday roasts to other tasty options that leave you feeling well satisfied.
  • The garden out back is a brilliant spot for relaxing on a sunny day, making it perfect for catching up with mates over a pint.
  • The atmosphere is really friendly and welcoming, with a great vibe that mixes calm vibes with cool indie and rock music.
  • Service is top-notch; the staff are chatty and attentive, like the waiters who go the extra mile with things like extra gravy or speedy drinks.
Cons
  • The website seems a bit unreliable, as it's just redirecting and doesn't offer much info, which might make it tricky to check menus or events beforehand.
  • Operating hours appear a tad confusing from what's listed, so you might want to double-check to avoid any surprises when popping in.
  • With its popularity, it could get quite busy at times, especially for those Sunday roasts, so you might have to wait a bit for a table.

The Wheatsheaf in Tooting is a solid favourite. The food is always delicious, with a great variety to choose from, and the garden out back is a really nice spot to relax especially on a sunny day. Friendly atmosphere and a great place to catch up with friends. Definitely worth a visit.

Right beside Borough Market, but this pub was really nice with a great vibe. Like the calm, beside the storm of the market outside. Really cool indie, rock music. And probably the best Guinness I had in London

Came to The Wheatsheaf for a Sunday roast and left in the best kind of food coma. Went for the trio – chicken, pork AND beef – because why not? Everything was banging, especially the crispy roasties and giant Yorkie. Big love to our waiter Flynn – chatty, on it, brought us extra gravy (hero behaviour), and let’s be honest… also pretty fit. Made the whole experience 10/10. Already planning our next visit.

Stopped here on the off chance whilst walking the dogs. So glad that we did. Food was absolutely amazing and what really made it for us was our lovely redhead Will who served us throughout. Will definitely be coming back when we’re next down south

Amazing food and fantastic service! Roast lunch was unreal, and great portion size. Richard welcomed us as soon as we sat down, he was speedy with drinks and food order, there was never any waiting around! He was super friendly, would recommend a visit
