About This Pub

Ah, Graveney and Meadow – it's one of those pubs in Tooting that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From the moment you step in, the staff are so warm and chatty, really making you feel at ease, whether you're there for a quick drink or a full meal. The food's a winner too; I hear rave reviews about the steak and Sunday roasts, and it sounds like they've nailed that comforting, homey touch with their menu. Plus, that beer garden is an absolute treat on a sunny day – imagine sipping on a £6.20 pint of Staropramen while the world goes by. It's brilliant for groups or even a solo catch-up, and don't miss their pub quiz on Wednesdays for a bit of fun. On the downside, it can be surprisingly quiet at times, which is lovely if you fancy a peaceful pint, but might leave you wanting more energy if you're up for a lively night. And just a heads-up, the kitchen's not open every day, so if you're after food, you'll have to time your visit right. Overall, it's a solid spot for good times in South London, with plenty to love and a few quirks to keep in mind.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • The food is a real highlight, with delicious options like the steak, Caesar salad, and hearty Sunday roasts that hit the spot.
  • They've got a fantastic beer garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun and enjoying a pint or cocktail outdoors.
  • It's a great place for socialising, with a cosy atmosphere ideal for afternoons, evenings, or even their Wednesday pub quiz.
Cons
  • The food can sometimes feel a bit pricey for what you get, so it might not always seem like the best value.
  • It tends to be quieter than you'd expect, especially on certain evenings, which could disappoint if you're after a buzzing vibe.
  • The kitchen is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so you'll need to plan ahead if you're keen on grabbing a meal.

🚇Tooting Broadway 🍺 £6.20 Staropramen The Graveney & Meadow is located on busy Mitcham Road in Tooting, Southwest London. The nearest Tube is Tooting Broadway. This is a late Victorian pub, originally known as the Horse & Groom. A couple of doors down from the pub is the Grade I listed Granada Tooting. It was originally built as one of the great luxurious Art Deco cinemas of the 1930s, it is still considered by many to be the most spectacular cinema in Britain. It’s now used as a bingo hall and recently appeared in the Netflix spy thriller series Black Doves. This a large two room pub that has an eclectic and contemporary feel. The main bar is located at the front and has an island servery towards the back. Just off the main bar is a dining area with a large atrium above. At the rear of the pub is a sprawling beer garden with lots of wooden benches. The decor here is mix of many styles, colours and furniture, there is a bit of something for everyone. The beer selection offers a line up of familiar keg favourites. I decided on a Staropramen, my pint hit the spot, price point was average. There is an open kitchen in the main bar serving up Burgers, sharers and a nice variety of mains, roasts are available on a Sunday. I arrived just before 4pm on a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon in April. The pub was fairly quiet inside, the majority of people were in the beer garden soaking up the Spring sunshine. I decided to plot up in the main bar and watch the Grand National with a few hopeful locals. The service was excellent, the chap on duty was easygoing and friendly. The Graveney & Meadow is a hybrid type venue that blurs the lines between cafe, pub and restaurant. It’s a welcoming social space that accommodates a wide spectrum of clientele. I enjoyed my visit here, I liked how local it felt and the laidback atmosphere. This place will not appease the traditional pub goer, but I suppose it’s not built that way. The @graveneymeadow is worth a look if you’re ever down Tooting way. 📅 13th April 2024 More London Pub info @londonpubmap 🍻

Went today on a Sunday midday, excellent service by staff and Ian, great Sunday roast (good portion and different presentation!) very friendly and relaxed, good range of wine and beers, comfortable seating. Would recommend for a Sunday lunch in Tooting.

Very smiley and friendly staff with real warmth willing to serve you! The place was quiet for Saturday evening which we liked, and the places was cozy. The food was not the best that we have tried but with good materials, but not value for the money paid.

Excellent brunch and lunch. Lovely service. Always surprisingly quiet when we've visited. Loads of open space with large windows and a beer garden. Food is super tasty, couldn't recommend more.
