About This Pub
Ah, the Wheatacre White Lion – it's one of those places that just oozes that classic countryside vibe, doesn't it? Picture yourself tucked away near the River Waveney in Suffolk, enjoying a pint of local ale or tucking into a well-prepared meal from their extensive menu. From what I've gathered from folks who've been, the food is often spot-on, with talented chefs dishing up everything from Sunday roasts to kids' options, and the drinks selection is a real winner, featuring everything from award-winning ciders to a cracking wine list. The staff are absolute gems too, always on hand with a smile and making you feel right at home in that warm, inviting setting. But, let's be straight, it's not all roses – some mates have mentioned dodgy experiences with inconsistent food, like veg that's gone a bit too soft or chips that aren't up to scratch, and service can drag on a bit, especially when you're hankering for that next round. Prices are a tad steep as well, so if you're expecting top-tier every time, it might not always deliver. Still, for a proper pub outing with a side of rural charm, it's worth a punt – just go in with an open mind and maybe plan for a stay if you're feeling adventurous.
Pros and Cons

-
The food is generally excellent, with an extensive menu crafted by talented chefs, offering everything from hearty mains to tempting desserts.

-
It's not just a pub – they offer cosy rooms for staying over, ideal for turning a meal into a mini getaway with breakfast options to boot.
Cons
-
Food quality can be inconsistent at times, with some reports of overcooked or inedible dishes like mushy veg and burnt batter, which is a real shame.
-
Service occasionally drags, leading to slow experiences or even missing orders, which can put a damper on things.
-
Prices are on the higher end, and they don't always feel justified if the meal doesn't live up to expectations.
-
A few visits have been disappointing overall, with the premium feel not quite matching up in every instance.

Went for lunch at this pub today with my wife and one of our friends. The food was excellent, the service was very good could not fault it. The restaurant was warm and friendly. If you are in this area of Norfolk and looking for some where to eat ,you will not be disappointed with The White Lion@ Wheatacre.
Visited several times before however the food was poor, starter was lovely but the Sunday roast was terrible veg mushy and the potatoes were inedible, service was slow and poor. Such a shame as we have enjoyed several times previously.
Unfortunately, our visit was disappointing. The service was slow, and one of our orders never made it to the table. While we were compensated for the missing dish, the overall experience didn’t reflect the premium price we paid. The food was tasty, but not enough to justify the cost given the poor customer service.
This has to be the worst and most expensive pub meal I have ever eaten.
The teaspoonful of mushy peas was cold, the fish was good but the batter was burnt, and the chips were inedible. No problems with the service, which was welcoming and friendly.
Happened to be driving past and popped in for Lunch. The pub has a nice outside space which would be lovely to sit in during warmer weather.
Inside was warm welcoming country pub with the fire on and a bar area near the entrance. Staff were welcoming and attentive, with a good selection of beers, ciders and spirits.
We sat in the restaurant area to the side for lunch. I could have happily ordered anything off the menu. It all sounded delicious. The menu was a good size to have variety but short enough everything was obviously cooked in house.
I had Steak, caramelised onion and stilton pie as one of the specials. The nicest pie I have eaten in a long time. The wife had a very nice and generous chicken supreme.
We both had a very tasty desert but forgot to take a photo. I would gladly come back
