About This Pub
You know, chatting about the Swan Inn feels like sharing tips over a pint with mates – it's got that welcoming, homely charm that's hard to beat. The food really steals the show; folks rave about the fresh seafood and specials, with sharing boards and desserts like a giant cherry Bakewell coming in for high praise, making it a top pick for a hearty meal without breaking the bank. The staff are an absolute delight, always polite and on hand to make your visit smooth, and it's spot-on for a quiet, clean space where you can unwind, whether you're with the family, a group, or even your dog. On the flip side, though, it's not ideal if you're veggie – options are a bit slim, which might leave you wanting more variety. And fair play, there've been a few hitches with bookings or rooms if they're offering those, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any surprises. All in all, it's a solid choice for pub goers looking for good grub and a friendly atmosphere, but just keep those little niggles in mind for a smoother experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot-on, especially the seafood dishes – think fresh, mouth-watering meals that leave you wanting more, like that halibut or the sharing boards.
-
The staff are always so friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's a lovely spot for a relaxed visit; the atmosphere is clean, not too noisy, and there's a charming rustic feel with old beams and a snug area that's just perfect for a cosy catch-up.
-
They're great with dogs, so it's ideal if you're popping in with your furry friend, and the value for money is spot on for a good meal out.
-
Being a freehouse means they've got a well-stocked bar with plenty of options to suit all tastes.
Cons
-
There aren't many choices for vegetarians – just the one option mentioned, like that halloumi burger, so it might not be the best if you're after more variety.
-
There have been a few grumbles about booking issues, like room cancellations if they offer accommodation, which could put a dampener on things if you're planning ahead.

Amazing food, good service and good with dogs 😀 very clean not to loud or busy. only downside is there is only 1 vegetarian option but the halloumi burgers were lovely 👍🏼
Impromptu visit yesterday for some dinner. Lovely attentive staff, food was delicious. We shared the ‘surf’ sharing board with a few extras, would definitely recommend. Finished with a giant cherry Bakewell which was unreal! Good value for money. Would definitely return.
When we got to the hotel we were told our room had been cancelled. They gave us another one which they charged £100 for , dear than the one we booked and really not up to scratch. The beds were barely made. We met up with my siblings for dinner, told we couldn't go at 7pm but to make it 7.30. However we weren't served until well after that. They had no vegan options and offered none. I ordered a vegetarian lasagne which was swimming in cheese and had very little vegetables. I would certainly not go again.
The Swan Inn was a lovely place to visit. The staff were helpful, polite and friendly. The food was delicious and plentiful. There was a main menu as well as a two and three course menu and a special board. The place was very romantic with a nice snug. There were old beams, nice rustic furniture and a lovely fire. The Swan Inn is mainly a fish restaurant but they do have steak on the menu (although a bit expensive) and sausages and mash.
Came here years ago… different owners now .
I can’t really put into words how lovely the food was , and such value for money compared to some eating establishments.
Husband had the lunch time special, salmon.
I had to have the halibut, o boy ! DELICIOUS!
