About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about The Three Horseshoes – it's one of those places that just warms your cockles from the moment you step in. Tucked away in North Cove near Beccles, this family-run spot has been around since 1497, so it's got that authentic, old-school pub vibe with a roaring log fire in the colder months and plans for a new beer garden to enjoy the fresh air. The menu's a winner, blending traditional pub classics with some Asian influences, and from what I've heard from folks who've tried it, the Sunday lunches are spot on – think crispy parsnips in Yorkshire pud and melt-in-your-mouth beef. The team behind the bar are dead chatty and make you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for a quick bite or settling in with the family and the dog. It's brilliant for those days out walking the Suffolk and Norfolk Broads, with easy access via bus or bike paths. On the flip side, it's a shame it's shut on Mondays, and the food times aren't all-day every day, so you might need to plan ahead to avoid disappointment. All in all, it's a cracking little find that balances that homely feel with tasty grub, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in the area – just go with an appetite and a relaxed mindset!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is an absolute delight, with standout dishes like the triple pig burger and tender beef brisket that leave you wanting more.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
  • It's a historic gem dating back to 1497, with a cosy atmosphere, complete with a log fire in winter and a developing beer garden for sunnier days.
  • Dog-friendly and family-oriented, it's perfect for a relaxed day out, especially if you're exploring the nearby River Waveney or local footpaths.
  • Plenty of parking and easy access via bus or cycle routes, making it a handy spot after a ramble or birdwatching adventure.
Cons
  • It's closed on Mondays, which means you might have to save your visit for another day if you're out and about mid-week.
  • Food service hours can be a bit limited, like only until 2:30pm or 8pm on certain days, so you'll need to time your trip just right.
  • Being in a rural spot, it might feel a tad out of the way if you're not already in the Beccles or Lowestoft area, though that's part of its charm.

Stopped in for a bite to eat and wow. What a treat! An extensive and delicious sounding variety on the menu making a decision difficult. I settled at the triple pig burger and I was not disappointed. Be sure you're hungry as it is a monster. Very good chips too and we'll presented. I look forward to a return visit to try something different. Great job

Stopped off for sunday lunch, which was delicious and very, very well presented! We sat outside with three large dogs, everybody was very friendly and welcoming. It was non stop raining, so we ended up staying until 8pm! After 5 live music started which felt like a lovely treat. If I’m back in the area again I will definitely revisit.
