About This Pub

Ah, The Bell Inn – what a gem of a spot down in St Olaves! From what I've gathered chatting about it with others, it's got this wonderful old-school charm as one of Broadland's oldest inns, and the reviews really sing its praises. The food stands out as a real highlight; people are buzzing about the fresh fish and chips or the catch of the day, all made with local ingredients that pack a punch of flavour. Pair that with a sunny spot in the beer garden overlooking the river, and you've got yourself a perfect afternoon. The team there are proper friendly, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which adds to that cosy, down-to-earth feel – it's great for a quick drink with the family or even a walk with the dog. On the flip side, it's not the cheapest place around, so you might think twice if you're watching the pennies, and if the weather turns, it can get a bit breezy by the water, which might put a damper on things. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for anyone looking for a genuine, hearty pub experience – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the good bits far outweigh the minor niggles!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, with fresh, locally sourced dishes like their fish and chips that have left folks raving – it's one of those meals you'll remember!
  • It's got a stunning location right by the river, complete with a lovely beer garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun and enjoying a drink outdoors.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • There's a great selection of drinks, including things like Blue Moon on tap, and the atmosphere is relaxed and chilled, ideal for a casual get-together with family or even bringing along the dog.
  • Ample parking makes it easy to pop in without the hassle, and they've got some cracking specials that can make it even more worthwhile.
Cons
  • It can be a tad on the pricey side, so you might want to budget a bit extra for that tasty meal.
  • If you're visiting when it's cooler, the spot by the river might feel a bit nippy, especially if you're sitting outside – don't forget a jumper!
  • The food menu isn't massive, so if you're after a huge variety of options, it might feel a little limited compared to bigger places.

First visit and not disappointed. Food was marvellous, locally sourced meat and flavoursome food. Bit more expensive but worth the money. When cooler bring a jacket or jumper as it’s quite chilly by the river but can still be nice if you get over the cold. Ample parking and friendly staff, just feel a little more attentiveness from the staff (slow to take orders, no checking in etc) would have raised the bar. Doggie friendly and ideal for any occasion. Will be back

Beautiful picturesque pub on the side of the river. Perfect location for fresh fish of the day which was haddock with chips. Service super nice staff welcoming and friendly to newcomers. Also I love that the pub played modern music and everyone seemed really down to earth. The toilets were really clean. Beautiful to come here on a lovely sunny day and sit outside to chill. Lovely to see children running around freely playing nicely with one another. Would recommend and would return for the fresh fish and a refreshment.
