About This Pub

Ah, the Westminster Arms – it's one of those gems in London that just feels like a proper pub should, right in the shadow of the Houses of Parliament. I have to say, what really stands out is the food; folks are raving about the steaks and pub classics, all made with fresh, seasonal bits and paired beautifully with Shepherd Neame's ales – it's like they've nailed that balance of traditional and tasty. The drinks menu is another winner, with a great lineup of beers, wines, and spirits that won't break the bank, even in this pricey part of town. The historic setting adds a lovely touch, with its old division bell and recent refurb that keeps things cosy yet inviting. On the flip side, it can be a bit of a hidden spot, so you might end up doing a double-take to find the entrance, and with its smaller size, it does get packed, which could mean a wait or needing to plan ahead for a table. Overall, it's a solid choice for anyone wanting a genuine pub experience without the crowds of more obvious tourist spots – I'd pop in for a drink and a chat any day, as long as you're up for that classic British vibe with a few modern perks.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food here is absolutely spot on – think juicy steaks, crispy chips, and classic pub grub that's a cut above the rest, especially with those seasonal ingredients and local brews.
  • They've got a brilliant selection of drinks, from award-winning ales and lagers to a cracking range of whiskies and even English wines, all at prices that feel fair for such a prime spot in London.
  • The historic vibe is charming; it's got that authentic pub feel with a division bell for MPs and a recent makeover that keeps it fresh without losing its character.
  • Service is top-notch – the staff are really friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for a quick pint or a full meal.
Cons
  • It can be a tad tricky to find, tucked away and not as flashy as some tourist traps, so you might wander past it if you're not paying attention.
  • Space is on the cosy side, which means it can get quite busy, especially in such a popular area, and you might need to book ahead for a table.
  • While the overall rating is solid, not every visit might live up to the hype if you're after something more modern or spacious – it's got that traditional pub charm, but it might feel a bit dated to some.

This is a hidden gem if you’re looking for a pub restaurant. Not your typical obvious and touristy place. The restaurant is accessed by a staircase in the back of their small ground floor pub. It’s quaint and offers a small authentic space with classic pub selections. Food is good, experience is excellent. Good central Westminster location.

The food was great, I have to say, one of the BEST stakes i've had in a while that i've eaten in a pub. The steak was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. The chips were crunchy on the outside and soft like mashed potato in the middle. The salad was lovely too. Staff were really nice and polite and the atmosphere was nice calm and friendly. I loved the decor. If I lived in London this would be my pub of choice. I will visit again when I come to London. BRILLIANT 👏 👏 👏

Reserved a table for 9 people. Had such a good time we would definitely return. The Guinness was really good! Best I've had in ages. Great selection of wines including English Kent Chapel Down (a favourite). The drinks prices were really reasonable! Especially for the location. We all ordered the fish n chips and could not believe the huge size of the fish. Really impressive. Staff were friendly and the music was good. Background level but cool selection. There is a dinning area upstairs, entrance bar and cellar/basement bar, so more spacious than it appears on the outside. Great pub for friends, dates or work meetings..

Located just around the corner from Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament, this recently refurbished pub has a good choice of beers. We didn’t try the food, but I can recommend the Bear Island East Coast Pale Ale. The pub features a legacy “Division Bell” for MPs who should be voting instead of drinking too.

We’re looking for a place to have our lunch and we find this pub. It’s situated near Westminster in a quiet area . The place is very nice and clean , there’s a bar downstairs and at the second level there’s a room where you can sit and enjoy your meal. The service is very excellent, the waiters are very nice, kind and friendly! The food came very fast and it was delicious! We’re very happy to have found this place ! Obviously we recommend you to visit this location 😊
