About This Pub

You know, when I popped into the Blue Boar Pub in Westminster, it really struck me as one of those places that nails the essence of a classic London local with a fresh edge. It's got this warm, inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home, blending traditional British charm with modern touches – think comfy seating and a buzz that's just lively enough without being overwhelming. The food is where it shines; their Sunday Roast and that gooey Sticky Toffee Pudding are absolute winners, and the drinks menu is packed with great options like tasty beers and cocktails that pair perfectly. Plus, being pet-friendly is a lovely bonus if you're out with your four-legged mate. On the downside, though, service can drag a bit, as a few folks have mentioned, and some dishes didn't quite live up to the hype, like overcooked bits that left things feeling a tad underwhelming. The tables being so close together might make for some unintended eavesdropping, and it's definitely pricier than your average pub, so it's best saved for when you fancy splashing out. All in all, it's a solid pick for a catch-up with friends or a special meal, but go in with realistic expectations for a balanced experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely cracking – it's got that classic British charm with a modern twist, making it feel welcoming and cosy.
  • The food is spot on; standout dishes like the Sunday Roast, Bone Marrow appetiser, and Sticky Toffee Pudding are proper treats.
  • They've got an impressive selection of drinks, including craft beers, international ales, wines, and cocktails that are bang on the money.
  • It's pet-friendly, which is brilliant if you're popping in with your dog, and they've won awards like Best Pub in Greater London.
  • Open all day every day, so it's perfect for a casual drink, a meal, or even groups and events.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit slow at times, which might put a dampener on things if you're in a rush.
  • Some food items, like the hamburger or bacon, have been described as just okay or overcooked, so it might not always hit the high notes.
  • The place can feel a tad pretentious or crowded, with tables packed a bit too close, making conversations from nearby tables all too audible.
  • It's on the expensive side, so you might want to think twice if you're after a budget-friendly night out.

Tyrell was a gem! Attentive, fun and came with good humor. Made it a great Father’s Day brunch! Bone Marrow app, Beef Sunday Roast and Toffee Sticky pudding were the standouts. Thanks for a good time!

This place has a cool atmosphere, but the service was slow. I had the Meantime Pale Ale and it was delicious. We had a hamburger, and it was just okay. The bacon was overcooked.

We had dinner and a couple of beers. The place is a little pretentious. We asked for a window table but we're informed that they were reserved and were shown to a table that was way too close to the one beside us and we could hear their entire conversation. The service was OK, I got the impression that it was their first night on the floor. I had two pints of Guinness and it was better than I expected however, I had to ask them to ensure the head wasn't as big on the second one. The food was enjoyable but over priced for the quality we were served.

Absolutely stunning atmosphere and service. Drinks were superb. Food was good. Plenty to look at with the art work and design of the place.

Incredible food and cocktails. Wayne prepared us the best Margarita and agreed with us that their Fish and Ships were amazing!! Food is to die for and cocktails are the best in town!! It’s just become my favorite pub in London! We’ve been there 3 days and can’t wait to come back to find the same people and food!
