About This Pub

Ah, Waters Edge, what a gem it is down by the canal in Nottingham – I've got to say, it's one of those places that just hits the spot for a casual outing with mates or family. From the moment you walk in, the staff are absolute stars, always up for a chat and going the extra mile, like surprising someone with fresh fruit on their dessert for a birthday treat. The food's another winner; you get hearty, flavoursome dishes that come out piping hot with proper portions, and those weekday deals make it even better value – who doesn't love a bargain meal? It's got this relaxed vibe, especially with the waterside views, and whether you're there to catch the latest match on the telly or just unwind with a good beer, there's plenty on offer. They've thought of everything too, with family areas for the little ones and grown-up zones for a game of pool. But, let's be fair, it's not perfect – being part of a chain means it can feel a tad generic at times, and with so many folks loving it, you might find yourself queuing or dealing with a bit of hustle on busier evenings. Still, overall, it's a solid choice if you're after a welcoming spot without the fuss, and I'd definitely pop back for another round.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and engaging, always making you feel welcome with their helpful nature and even adding special touches like birthday surprises.
  • The food is spot on – think tasty mains, perfectly cooked veggies, and generous portions that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank, especially with deals like tucking in for a tenner.
  • It's got a chilled-out atmosphere right by the canal, perfect for a relaxing pint or watching the big games on Sky Sports and TNT Sports.
  • Loads of great facilities, including a family-friendly zone with outdoor play, plus an adult section with pool tables and dart boards, making it ideal for all sorts.
  • A solid selection of beers and drinks, with something for everyone, whether you're after a quick refreshment or a full meal.
Cons
  • The overall rating sits at 3.8, suggesting that while recent visits have been brilliant, there might be occasional slip-ups with consistency or busier times that could affect the experience.
  • As a chain pub, it sometimes lacks that unique, cosy feel you get from independent spots, feeling a bit more standard and predictable.
  • With high popularity, it could get quite crowded, especially during events like the Women's Euros or quiz nights, which might mean waits for tables or service.

I wouldn’t expect a nice Sunday lunch at a chain but it was absolutely lovely. Nothing overcooked and dry, perfectly crispy potatoes and flavoursome vegetables. Staff at the bar were friendly and had a sense of humour . Pleasant to sit by the water

Very chilled out atmosphere, really nice variety of food on the menu and great portion sizes with a wide range of drinks to choose from. They have an Adult section which has pool tables and a dart board. Great vibe. And a family friendly zone for kids with a park. Would recommend for a nice relaxed evening with a group of friends. Enjoyed it.
