About This Pub

Ah, The Good Fellow George – what a lovely spot it is, tucked away just outside Nottingham city centre. From the reviews I've had a look at, it's clear folks are really taken with the place; the staff stand out as absolute stars, being so friendly and attentive, like in Susan's tale of her Valentine's dinner or Casey's shout-out to their server. The food's another highlight – think mouthwatering Sunday roasts with that perfect crackling, as Daniela put it, or the array of small plates and cheese boards that Anthony couldn't stop praising. Pair that with a solid lineup of beers and drinks, and you've got yourself a proper treat. It's even dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out with your pooch. On the downside, though, no phone number means you're stuck with emails for any questions, and it might feel a tad out of the way if you're coming from the heart of the city. All in all, it's got that genuine, homely charm that makes you want to return, but it's worth weighing up those little niggles for a balanced visit.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always making sure you're well looked after and adding to that cosy, welcoming vibe.
  • The food is absolutely spot on, with highlights like the cheese boards, Sunday roasts, and small plates that leave you wanting more – it's all about quality and flavour.
  • They've got a brilliant selection of beers, wines, and spirits, with knowledgeable bar staff happy to chat about your choices, making it a treat for drink enthusiasts.
  • It's wonderfully dog-friendly, so you can pop in with your four-legged mate without any fuss.
  • The location's just a stone's throw from Nottingham city centre, offering a relaxed oasis near landmarks like The Park Estate, perfect for a quick escape from the hustle.
Cons
  • They don't have a phone number, so sorting out any queries means emailing, which might not be as straightforward if you're in a rush.
  • Being slightly outside the main city centre could make it a bit of a trek for some, especially on a rainy day when you'd rather not wander far.

Recent Reviews

This comes from someone who doesn't love Sunday dinners (with a boyfriend who loves them). Read amazing reviews about the place, and decided to give it a go, as a treat for my love, and oh boy... Food is incredible! I went for the pork, and... The crackling... Oh, the crackling... Absolutely in love! And the staff is just the cutest, such lovely ladies! The pub is beautiful, such a nice vibe about it! We'll certainly be back for Steak night and small plates! Oh! And my little girl who hates beef says it was the best food! Thank you!

What a superb pub. We visited to try the Jeremy Clarkson beer and their cheese on toast. As it happens, there was a brand new menu of small plates and sides. Wow. Fantastic food. So we didn't get to try the cheese on toast, but that didn't matter as the chicken, wild mushroom, beetroot hummus, and fried potatoes were amazing. The Hawkstone beer was excellent too. Plenty of choice for beer and ale drinkers. Service was impeccable with very friendly staff who made the whole visit a joy. It's a fantastic pub with superb food, excellent beer and great atmosphere. I also like the view from the booth seating, watching the traffic pass by.

Decided to come here when I found out they had Hawkstone lager on draft and I wasn't disappointed. The lagers were lovely and we also decided to have a gin and tonic. We also found out it was the day of their new menu releasing so we had to give it a try and it all tasted amazing and will definitely be coming back to try more things on the menu. The staff are very polite and chatty and create a welcoming environment. There are 3 seating areas which are located on the ground floor, a small room up some stairs and a small outdoor roof space.
