About This Pub

Ah, The Organ Grinder – what a gem it is in Nottingham! From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, this place really shines with its impressive lineup of beers; they've got up to nine cask ales on tap, mostly from Blue Monkey, and they're always fresh and full of flavour. It's one of those spots where you can kick back with a pint, maybe try that cinder toffee stout which sounds like a dreamy dessert in a glass, and just soak up the friendly chatter. The staff are brilliant, always making you feel welcome and sharing tips on what to order, which adds to that homely feel. Plus, there's a lovely roof terrace for when you fancy some fresh air, and it's great that well-behaved dogs are allowed – makes it perfect for a casual meet-up. On the flip side, I have to mention that the entertainment isn't always on point; one review mentioned a dreadful covers band that spoiled the mood, so it might pay to check what's happening before you go. And if you're peckish, the food is more about simple treats like those awesome Stilton-topped pork pies rather than a full-blown meal, which could leave you wanting more. Still, for beer enthusiasts, it's a solid choice with a 4.6 rating speaking volumes about the good times had here. All in all, it's worth a visit for a relaxed night out, just keep expectations balanced and you'll likely have a whale of a time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely spot on, with a fantastic range of fresh Blue Monkey ales and some great guest options that really hit the spot.
  • It's got such a cosy and welcoming vibe, perfect for a relaxed evening with friends, and the staff are lovely and always up for a chat.
  • The roof terrace is a brilliant spot for enjoying a pint outdoors, especially on a sunny day, and it's dog-friendly too, which makes it even more appealing.
  • They've got fun events like the popular quiz night on Mondays, plus little extras like delicious local pork pies and a selection of newspapers to browse.
  • Overall, it's a proper friendly local with a great mix of people, making it easy to settle in and have a good time.
Cons
  • The entertainment can be hit or miss, like that one time with the terrible covers band that put a bit of a dampener on the night.
  • Food options are pretty limited, mostly just tasty pork pies and snacks rather than a full menu, so it might not satisfy if you're after a proper meal.
  • Opening hours start a bit late on weekdays, around 3pm, which could be inconvenient if you're hoping for an earlier pint.

Nice shots & upstairs roof bar. Really cosy & nice atmosphere. Didn't eat - maybe next time.

Lovely little pub mainly selling Blue Monkey beers (others available). Beer was super fresh. The cinder toffee stout is basically liquidised Crunchies and is an amazing dessert beer. The pub itself is welcoming and has a great vibe, with a good mix of age groups. Everyone is friendly, especially the staff. Good selection of board games available. Pork pies and sausage rolls were delicious.

Being a Blue Monkey Brewery Pub, The Organ Grinder has excellent ales and excellent, warm and friendly service from staff who obviously enjoy their job! Matt and the team are great at making you feel relaxed and are knowledgeable about the drinks and snacks available (The Pork Scratchings with the Chocolate Stout Jam were a revelation 🔥). For more substantial food, Lauren and Adam (formerly of The Wing Waggon) are really passionate and friendly about food and service and their sliders, fries and slaw are spot on at wallet friendly prices. A must visit location if you're in Notts and want a drink/food 👌🏼
