About This Pub
Ah, Waldorf Manchester – what a gem it is, tucked away near the station and just a stone's throw from all the action in the city. From what I've gathered from folks' experiences, it's got that perfect blend of a cosy, inviting space where you can kick back with a pint and watch the footie on one of their many HD screens, or even join in on events like the Wednesday chess club or Friday live music – it's all about that community feel, you know? The food really hits the spot too; think hearty pub classics that won't break the bank, especially if you're using their app for deals, making it a smart choice before heading to a gig at the nearby arena. On the flip side, it does get heaving during peak times, so you might find yourself in a bit of a squeeze, and if you're fancying a late-night bite, well, the kitchen closes a tad early, which could leave you peckish. Overall, it's a solid pick for us pub lovers, with friendly faces behind the bar and a welcoming nod to dogs and all, but it's worth popping in at a quieter moment to truly soak it up.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant and super friendly, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
It's a top spot for catching live sports with plenty of HD screens showing everything from football to rugby, and they've even got a coach service to Manchester City games.
-
The food is spot on – think tasty pub grub like burgers and mac 'n' cheese that's great value, especially if you're gearing up for a gig or match.
-
Being dog-friendly and having a cosy, welcoming vibe with outdoor seating makes it perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
-
They've got a cracking selection of drinks, including real ale, cocktails, and a good gin lineup, plus fun events like chess club and live music to keep things lively.
Cons
-
It can get a bit packed during big events or match days, so you might have to jostle for a seat or wait for a table.
-
Food service wraps up at 9 PM, which means if you're out late, you could miss out on a proper meal and have to stick to drinks or snacks.
-
The outdoor area is lovely when the weather's playing ball, but on a rainy Manchester day, you might be stuck inside with the crowds.

Been here a few times now but first time had food so leaving a review..Booked table for 5pm for 2..Pre gig Lionel Richie food needed and no way were we paying the Co-op Arena prices. Food was excellent and great value. Used the MixR app to get the food and the many offers on drinks..Although the 2 for 1 margarita offer wasn't available. They offer 2 for 1 cocktails but wasn't clear on the app and originally only got 1..Lovely bar manager sorted this issue out..Great pub off the beaten track and ideal from Piccadilly train station for food/drinks pre gigs. 5 stars
After a nice trip from London to Manchester via train :-) We were not only super hungry but my husband NEEDED to watch the Premier LEague final ManUTD vs Aston Villa on May 25th. So we were staying nearby and hotel staff sent us here. Glad they did!
Oasis Fan + MAnchester United Fan .. .this was the best spot. hehe
What lil' gem. The staff are brilliant and very friendly. TVs with sports, great burgers and Mac n Cheese. Cocktails and pub snacks and 50 yards from the Malmaison hotel . What's not to like ?!!
We were in Manchester for 3 nights and think we ate dinner each night here. Good food, atmosphere was great and the staff was super! Good selection of beers and spirits. Gin selection was very good. Love this place.
First stop after flying into Manchester for a 10-day UK trip after taking the train from the airport to Piccadilly. This is a quick walk from the station if you’re craving a bite and a pint. Rustic boozer with a certain charm. Lots of groups of friends in here enjoying beers and crisps. A warm, convivial spot with equally friendly staff. Everything was great, including the chicken sub I ordered. An impressive array of draft and cask. And man do they pour a good pint of Landlord (they’re a Champion Club member).
