About This Pub

Ah, The Piccadilly Tavern – it's one of those unpretentious spots in Manchester that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening. I love how it's all about excellent value; you can grab a proper breakfast or a hearty meal without emptying your wallet, and the portions are generous enough to share or leave you feeling chuffed. The atmosphere is spot on too – it's welcoming, with a historic feel that makes you want to settle in for a chat and a pint, especially if you're catching the big match. It's clear from the buzz that folks really enjoy the vibe and the friendly service most of the time. But, on the downside, some of the food could use a bit more flair in the seasoning department, and if you pop in on a busy night, you might end up waiting longer than you'd like for your order to arrive. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual night out – just go in with realistic expectations, and you'll likely have a great time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Incredibly affordable prices, like that hearty breakfast for just £4.25 – it's a real steal for a filling meal.
  • A warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home, with friendly staff and a great crowd.
  • Generous portions of food that leave you satisfied, perfect for tucking into after a long day.
  • A fantastic spot for watching live sports and enjoying a pint or two in a lively, historic pub setting.
  • Plenty of options for drinks and grub, making it ideal for casual meet-ups or a relaxed bite to eat.
Cons
  • Some dishes fall a bit flat on flavour, like the mushrooms or fish and chips that could do with more seasoning.
  • Service can be inconsistent, with orders sometimes getting mixed up or delayed, especially when it's busy.
  • The place gets quite packed on weekends, which might mean waiting around for a table or your food.

First time across the pond and having a fantastic 24 hours thus far. Wanted a proper breakfast and stumbled into here. Did not disappoint. £4.25 for that hearty breakfast. Very nice, historic type pub with happy patrons enjoying their pints. Looking forward to the next day 10 days in the UK

The good, plentiful portions and a good pint of Guinness. The wings were good, the mushrooms a bit soggy with little flavor. Fish and chips were good but needed salt to have any flavor they were well done and not soggy. The mega mixed grill was enough to probably fill two people. In defense of the food the place was packed with FA fans and very busy.

Came on a Saturday night, so expected it to be busy. You order your meal via QR code but somehow I think my meal was lost. My table mate received their meal in a timely fashion and finished theirs before mine arrived. I had ordered a starter and main and marked bring food as prepared but nothing arrived. When I finally inquired about it, someone came and quickly threw the food on the table with a “Sorry” and walked away. I get it was a busy Saturday night, but that’s a bit gruff. The food was lacking flavor but the drinks were tasty. I understand it was a busy night but the service was just alright and the food Ok. If you have those expectations, you’ll enjoy your time.
