About This Pub
Ah, the Vine – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? Tucked away in Waltham Cross, it's been part of the McMullen family since the 1930s, and they've given it a fresh lease of life with a welcoming vibe that's perfect for catching up with mates over a pint. What I love most is that beer garden; it's spacious and inviting, ideal for families or even bringing the dog along, and the food really delivers with tasty pub classics and pizzas that leave you satisfied without emptying your wallet. The drinks selection is spot on too, with locally brewed ales that give a real nod to the area, and the staff are always up for a chat, making the place feel warm and inclusive. On the flip side, though, service isn't always flawless – I've heard tales of food turning up late, which can throw off a nice meal out, and those outdoor tables could do with more shade options for when the weather plays up. Still, overall, it's a solid spot for a relaxed evening, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area, just keep an eye on those little niggles to manage your expectations.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer garden is absolutely brilliant – plenty of space to relax with a pint and soak up the outdoors, perfect for a sunny day with friends.
-
They serve up some cracking pub grub, like fresh stone-baked pizzas and classic dishes that hit the spot without breaking the bank.
-
The staff are genuinely friendly and professional, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
A great selection of locally brewed ales and other drinks, including hand-picked wines and gins that add a nice touch to the experience.
-
It's super family-friendly with options for kids, plus it's dog-friendly and wheelchair accessible, so everyone can join in.
Cons
-
Service can be a bit inconsistent at times, like when food arrives late while others have already finished, which puts a dampener on things.
-
The outdoor picnic tables lack umbrellas, so on a rainy or sunny day, you might end up dodging the weather without much cover.
-
Ordering through an app can feel a tad fiddly – you'll need to download it and connect to WiFi, which isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Great sized beer garden and decent pint. The food is pretty good nothing amazing but a good standard of pub grub
This place is absolutely lovely, amazing food and reasonably priced. Service was great staff are friendly and professional. The garden area is amazing. Looking forward to more fun times in here. Highly recommend.
Unfortunately I only grabbed the one photo though that’s because they served my children and partner and decided to bring my food out 20 minutes after everyone else had eaten 😂
Let’s begin with the fact that the outdoor picnic tables had 0 umbrellas, I think I saw about maybe 5/6 umbrellas and there were at least 30 or more tables in open sunlight with no shade (and imagine you’re sitting outside with your dogs and children and there’s no shade unless you snag one of the few tables blessed with an umbrella.
The quality of food was 2/5
The Huntér’s chicken was so over cooked I could only eat the inside as the outside had gone rock solid (even the dog took some crunching to get through) add that to the fact that it was £13 for about 180g of chicken (at most) horrendously over priced for the lack of quality and quantity.
The calamari rings came in at about £7 and I was served with two rings (about the size of my palm) and one that was the size of my 2yr old toddlers palm. Again quantity did not match the price in the slightest.
The margarita pizza was a steep £9.95 and it was the kind of quality in a Tesco value pizza (in size and flavour too) very quickly turned into flour flavoured plastic…
The outdoor seating is not cared for and maintained, chunks of the tables missing, leaving sharp splintered edges. So it would be nice if that was maintained to a level of safety.
Also worth a mention if you are walking in and you have a pram or wheelchair then they have shut the cut through they used to have and you’re forced to walk the long way around - which is fine however you do run out of pavement which forces pedestrians to walk in the road and as it is quite narrow (fits a car in and a car out) there’s no space for pedestrians to be in the road so there’s a huge health and safety risk for wheelchair users and families with children to come off a high curb and be forced into a road.
All in all not really worth it 🥲
Went very recently for the first time and ordered a Guinness (£5.50), and Fish & Chips (£12.50 I think).
The portion sizes were excellent and the food was very tasty. The Guinness was poured well too. Music was low and created a nice atmosphere, mainly playing Motown and Rock n Roll.
Staff were extremely friendly and seemed to be in high spirits.
Ample parking in the car park and a good outside area.
I would come back without hesitation.
Great spot! Lovely to sit outside, lots of grass and a play structure for kids. Food was good and served quickly. I can't comment on the inside as I didn't go in myself.
You order by scanning a QR code on the table into an app that you need to download first. There is wifi for this. However you have to go in to get your own cutlery and napkins etc. The waiters will only bring the food to the table that's it.
Would definitely go back to try more!
