About This Pub

Ah, the Victoria in Barrow-in-Furness – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food really steals the show; folks are raving about the comforting classics like fish and chips or a juicy burger, all served up with that homely touch you'd expect from a historic spot. The atmosphere is spot on too – warm and welcoming, with live sports on the screens and a family-friendly setup that includes things like a beer garden and being dog-friendly, so it's great for a casual meet-up or even bringing the kids along. Prices are fair, with daily deals that make it easy on the wallet, and the staff seem to go the extra mile to make you feel at home. But, let's be straight, it's not perfect; the overall rating hints at some inconsistency, maybe with service on busier nights or the food not always hitting the mark, and if you're out late, you might miss out on grub since they stop serving early. Still, for a solid, affordable pint and a bite in a lively setting, it's worth a visit – I'd say give it a go and see for yourself, especially if you're nearby and fancy a bit of that Greene King charm.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think hearty pub classics like fish and chips or a perfectly cooked steak, all done with real care and flavour that leaves you wanting more.
  • It's got a warm, inviting atmosphere that's perfect for catching up with mates or watching the big games on the telly, with a family-friendly vibe and plenty of facilities like a beer garden and dog-friendly spaces.
  • Great value for your money, with exciting deals on pints and meals almost every day, making it an affordable spot for a good night out without breaking the bank.
  • The staff are lovely and knowledgeable, adding to that welcoming feel, especially if you're new to the area or just popping in for a chat.
Cons
  • While the reviews we've seen are glowing, the overall rating suggests there might be the odd off day with service or consistency, so it could vary depending on when you visit.
  • Food serving hours end relatively early in the evening, which might cut short your plans if you're after a late bite.
  • Being in the heart of Barrow-in-Furness, it can get a bit lively or crowded during events, which isn't ideal if you're after a quiet pint.

I recently visited Victoria Tavern and had an incredible time! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a lively atmosphere that truly embodies the spirit of a sports bar. The decor is sports-themed, with plenty of memorabilia adorning the walls, which adds to the excitement. The selection of screens showing various games is impressive, ensuring that no matter what sport you're into, you'll find something to watch. The seating is comfortable, and there’s enough space to accommodate both small grouPs and larger parties.

New to the area so first visit to this pub. Have visited many Greene kings across the county and was really impressed by the service here. Was a bit dubious due to some reviews but seems to be on the up from what I’ve read. The lady Courtney behind the bar seemed lovely and very knowledgeable. Will definitely be back and recommending😁
