About This Pub

Ah, Tally Ho – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Barrow-in-Furness, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this warm, unpretentious vibe that reminds me a bit of those lively spots in old TV shows, where everyone's up for a laugh. The staff really shine through as the heart of the place; they're described as friendly and fabulous, which always makes a big difference when you're settling in for a pint. Prices are spot on for keeping things affordable, especially with those cheap beer deals, and there's heaps to do – think karaoke nights, weekly raffles, and even pool or darts if you're in the mood for a bit of friendly competition. Plus, with sports on the telly and plenty of seating, it's easy to make a night of it. On the flip side, though, it's not without its quirks; families might find the early curfew for kids a bit limiting, and if you're hoping for a solid meal, well, it's not getting much mention, so you might want to grab a bite elsewhere first. Overall, it's a solid choice for a casual evening – honest, fun, and just the right amount of lively without being overwhelming. I'd say give it a go if you're in the area; it's got that community feel that makes you want to come back.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • Drinks are affordably priced, with pints going for as little as £2 during specials – perfect for a casual night out without breaking the bank.
  • It's got a brilliant atmosphere with plenty of entertainment options like pool tables, darts, karaoke nights, and even a jukebox to keep things lively.
  • There are loads of seating areas both inside and outside, so it's easy to find a spot whether you're popping in for a quick drink or settling in for the evening.
  • They show premium sports on seven TVs, which is great if you're into watching the game with a pint in hand.
Cons
  • There are restrictions on kids, as they have to leave by around 4-5pm, which might not suit families wanting a full evening out.
  • Food isn't really highlighted in the reviews, with one person saying they couldn't comment on it, so it might not be the best spot if you're after a proper meal.
  • It's a straightforward, no-frills boozer, which is charming in its own way but could feel a bit basic if you're looking for something more upscale.
  • No website listed means it's trickier to check out menus or events online before heading over.

Been a few times recently and have to say current staff and management are friendly and fab! 2 pool tables, darts and 7 tvs showing premium sports plus a great range of drinks! Lots of fun to be had, karaoke nights, weekly raffle competitions… oh and loads of seating inside and outside. Lots of fun to be had by all.

Great place friendly staff Around good atmosphere . There's a jukebox. Plenty of seating and a pool table. Not a bad bar to be honest. My late daughter's wake was held there .

NEW OWNERSHIP Just been taken over about 2 weeks ago. Pints were £2, must be a special offer... but there was karaoke on and was a good atmosphere. Apparently going to be all about cheap beer and sports... Will be good for summer. Only thing is... kids have to leave by 4-5pm so the barmaid told me when we asked about why the kids play area had been ripped out, it's no longer a child friendly pub.
