About This Pub

You know, when you step into the Strawberry, it's like being greeted by old mates – the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, and that's saying something for a spot in the heart of Barrow-in-Furness. The food's a standout; it's tasty, well-priced, and comes out quick, with options that cater to families and even little ones with high chairs and all. Throw in the live sports action on big screens and those everyday deals on pints, and you've got a place that's just perfect for kicking back with friends or watching the big match. On the downside, it does have that typical chain pub vibe, so if you're after something with more character or a quiet corner away from the crowds, it might not quite hit the spot – and it can get buzzing during peak times, which isn't ideal if you're after a peaceful pint. All in all, though, it's a solid choice that's clean, comfortable, and full of heart, making it well worth a visit for anyone in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly welcoming and make you feel right at home, especially if you're new to the area.
  • The food is top-notch and really affordable, with great deals like the £10.99 for two meals option that's perfect for families.
  • It's spotlessly clean, which is a breath of fresh air in a pub setting.
  • Family-friendly vibes with facilities for kids and dogs, making it a great spot for all ages.
  • Brilliant for watching live sports, with big screens and events like the UEFA Women's Euros – you won't miss a moment.
  • Loads of daily deals on pints and meals, plus a cosy beer garden and free WiFi for added comfort.
Cons
  • As a chain pub, it has that standard Greene King feel, so it might not offer the unique, local charm some folks crave.
  • It can get pretty busy, especially in the afternoons or during big events, which might make it a bit hectic at times.
  • Serving hours wrap up a tad early on some days, so if you're after a late-night bite, you might be out of luck.

We went as a family of 6. Really nice welcoming family place. Really great pricing with £10.99for 2 meal option. Especially now my children are past the children menu stage. Catered for baby with a high hair that was clean and straps fully working. Food came quickly and was enjoyed by everyone..

We had no preconceived ideas about the pub other than that a good friend suggested having lunch there and he has good taste. It is a big pub with lots of areas to sit. We didn't pre book for lunch but were looked after. The food menu is quite expansive and also really affordable. We made the most of the offers. The chicken katsu curry with chips and rice was divine. There was plenty on the menu for everyone. The range of drinks were good too and they served real ale in handled jugs which I think added to the whole drinking experience. The staff were really friendly and very efficient. The pub was clean and the atmosphere was laid back. There was music being played through the sound system and there was live sport being showed on TV screens. But because the pub was so big, this was all very incidental. Very family friendly. Recommend to all.

Well priced food, the usual chain owned pub stuff but still of a good standard! Poker nights on the Thursday from 8pm. Acts on during weekend. Worth a visit even for a pint, usually very busy in the afternoons
