About This Pub

You know, when I think about The Blue Lamp, it's got this real charm as a classic local boozer in Barrow-in-Furness – it's open every day from midday till midnight, which is handy for a spontaneous catch-up. What stands out most is how sociable the staff are; they're always up for a chat and keep the place sparkling clean, which makes for a comfortable vibe. The karaoke on Sundays is brilliant – it's just the ticket if you're in the mood for a laugh and some tunes with mates. And let's not forget, the beers are cheap, so you can enjoy a few without worrying about the wallet. On the downside, though, the drink options are pretty basic; no ales in sight, and it's frustrating when something like Stella isn't quite right. The atmosphere can be a bit hit-or-miss – sometimes it feels a little dead, and the tatty chairs and constant door opening for smokers can disrupt the flow. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening if you're after good company and entertainment, but it might not wow you if you're seeking a more polished or diverse spot.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and sociable, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • Karaoke nights, especially on Sundays, are an absolute blast – perfect for a fun sing-along with a lively crowd.
  • Beers are really affordable, so it's a great spot for a budget-friendly night out without skimping on the good times.
Cons
  • The beer selection is a bit limited, with no ales on offer, which might disappoint if you're after something more varied.
  • Some drinks, like Stella, can be off occasionally, which puts a damper on things.
  • The place can feel a tad quiet or lacking in buzz at times, and the furniture's a bit worn out, giving it a shabby edge.
