About This Pub
You know, chatting about Unicorn Manchester with mates, it's got that classic pub vibe that's hard to beat in the heart of Manchester. I've heard it's brilliant for sinking a pint while cheering on the footy or rugby – they've got the big games on, and with those wallet-friendly drink deals, it's easy to see why folks pop in regularly. The traditional setup with its wood panelling and the odd bit of live music or entertainment makes it feel welcoming and full of character. On the upside, when the staff are on form, they're proper lovely and add to the community feel. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses; there are stories of the odd grumpy server or a drink that doesn't quite taste right, like that pitcher that ended up more like water than anything with a kick. And with the crowds getting a bit lively during events, it might not be the spot for a peaceful catch-up. Overall, with a solid rating pushing 4.2, it's worth giving it a go if you're nearby, just keep your expectations balanced and you'll likely have a good time.

We came here and ordered 2 pitchers. Firstly, the way the manager spoke to us when we first walked in was an impolite and rough. We tried to move on, could just be one of those days for him. Fine. Then, 1 of the pitchers we ordered tasted like it had zero alcohol in it at all. Like zero. Just watered down completely. I went to the bar to ask if they were able to put a little extra in or even to just remake it and if it were to taste the same, then fine. But Terry, lady working, rudely said she made it, if I wasn’t happy, order it again. I’ve already spent £16? I talked to a manager, he says he trusts his staff have done the job correctly and that if we’re not happy, we have to pay for more alcohol. If I wanted to drink water, I’d buy a 50p bottle from Tesco. Thanks
1st class old Manchester pub in the city centre. And with great draught Bass.
Visited for a pint of Bass. Didn't eat there. Bass tasted like vinegar and was changed by the bar lady. A shoplifter was going around tables trying to sell a bag full of toiletries she had just nicked from Boots. Fairly rowdy football crowd. Would not go back.
Had couple beers here great taste. Atmosphere was great nice people in singer on a Saturday afternoon. And lovely friendly barstaff.
Out and about in Manchester with Albrecht. After a Sunday roast at the Abel Heywood Albrecht spotted this pub close by. It is many years since my last visit. It has hardly changed with a lovely wood panel interior. The pub wraps around a central bar. Sharpes Doom bar (eugh) and ( thankfully) draught Bass on handpump. Bass, once the biggest selling beer in Britain, is now a rare find. We enjoyed our Sunday afternoon pint while a singer kept the locals entertained.
