About This Pub
Ah, the Trumpet – it's one of those neighbourhood pubs that just feels right, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are absolute gems; they're quick to make you feel at home with their chatty, attentive service, which really sets the tone for a relaxed evening. The food's another highlight – think solid, flavoursome dishes like katsu curry or a mixed grill that hit the spot without costing a fortune, ideal for a casual get-together. And if you're a sports fan, it's spot on with all the live action from events like the Women's Euros or the Lions tour, plus they've got a beer garden and other handy facilities that make it welcoming for families or even if you're popping in with the dog. On the flip side, though, there have been a few grumbles about the odd mix-up with opening times, like turning up early only to find the doors shut, which could put a dampener on things if you're travelling far. Still, with an overall solid rating and plenty of positive nods to the atmosphere and value, I'd say it's worth a visit for a laid-back night out – just plan ahead and you'll likely have a cracking time.

A brilliant spot for watching live sports, with events like the Women's Euros and rugby tours adding to the excitement.

Cons
-
There can be occasional issues with opening times, like doors being locked when they're meant to be open, which might throw off your plans.

We booked a table for 12:00 for six people meeting up with family, we travelled 170 miles to get there! The website said they opened at 11:30, we arrived shortly after 11:30 to find the doors locked! Not knowing the pub we walked around the building and found several people sat in the beer garden at the back, we ventured into the building and wandered around for several minutes went to the toilet, came out again eventually someone appeared and said we don’t open until 12:00, I explained that the website said 11:30 and was told When we queried this were told we keep asking for it to be changed!! No apology just very matter of fact!
This was a disappointing start to our brief visit to Northampton.
The food was good, but took a long time to come out (although there was a big party in).
I recently visited The Trumpet pub in Northampton and had an amazing experience, thanks to Faith's excellent service. From the moment we arrived, she made us feel right at home with her friendly and welcoming attitude. Faith was incredibly attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. Her knowledge of the menu and drink selections was impressive, and her recommendations were spot on. Faith's professionalism and warm demeanor truly made our visit special. I highly recommend stopping by The Trumpet and experiencing Faith's top-notch service for yourself!
Used to frequent and this pub over 30 years ago, returned tonight with the in-laws, I think the empty plates says it all great food lovely staff and good prices. I will be back....
Went for Christmas meal 21st dec with friends. The food was lovely and hot and my vegan option was very tasty. One of the best Xmas dinners I have had.
All the staff were friendly and helpful and lovely atmosphere with the decorations. Will definitely go back next year.
It was a quiet evening when we went to The Trumpet but the food and drinks were wonderful. Would recommend. My husband had the mixed grill, which he really enjoyed, followed by the jam roly poly which he said was delicious. I ordered the katsu chicken curry which was very tasty, followed by the vegan lava cookie which was okay. We ordered the rosemary fries as extra but they didn't taste of rosemary at all, just salty.
