About This Pub

Ah, The Headlands – it's one of those pubs that feels like it's really found its groove after shaking off a dodgy reputation. From what I've gathered chatting about it, the staff are absolute gems; they're hardworking and always up for a laugh, which makes popping in for a pint feel like catching up with mates. The atmosphere is spot on too, with all that 50s and 60s rock 'n' roll stuff on the walls and a juke box that adds a fun twist – it's got that proper pub charm without being too stuffy. Drinks-wise, there's a solid range of beers and ales, and some surprising food options like fresh sushi that could make your evening. The outdoor area is brilliant for warmer days, and it's got heaps of space for events, like when they've had live music or gatherings. On the flip side, it's a shame about the food not always being available – those toasties sound legendary but only show up seasonally, which might leave you wanting more. Overall, it's a reliable spot for a good night out, but it pays to go in with realistic expectations; it's improved loads, but it's not perfect every time, so you might have a top-notch visit or just a decent one.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and hardworking, always serving up a smile with your pint which really makes the place feel welcoming.
  • It's got a fantastic atmosphere with rock 'n' roll vibes, loads of memorabilia on the walls, and even a juke box for a bit of fun.
  • A great selection of beers, ales, and ciders, plus some fresh food options like sushi and miso-glazed cod that hit the spot.
  • Spacious with a large car park and a lovely outdoor area, perfect for enjoying a drink in the summer sunshine.
  • Ideal for gatherings, whether it's a casual meet-up or something like a wake, with plenty of room and a stage for live music.
Cons
  • Some food items, like those famous cheese and ham toasties, are only available seasonally, which can be a bit disappointing if you're craving them.
  • It seems to have had a rough past, so the experience might vary depending on the day, though it's improved a lot lately.
  • With a mix of ratings, it's not always a guaranteed hit – a few folks have given it three stars, suggesting it's decent but not outstanding every time.

Decent tidy pub and has improved lots over the years from the days when it has a bad reputation. Now with friendly staff who are hard working the pub is a great place for a beer and some food. Large car park and a nice outdoor area to sit and drink in the upcoming summer. Brilliant

My go-to place now! The sushi was incredibly fresh, and the miso-glazed cod was mouthwatering. Clean, modern interior and very professional staff.

The only proper pub left in northampton, frequented by no less than two local Mayors. A freshly poured cold pint, served with a smile and a free token for the juke box. I have only left 3 stars for food due to the world famous cheese and ham toasties only being available seasonally. If you fancy a catch up with a friend over a game of darts, pool, skittles or bar billiards whilst choosing what to dance to. There simply is nowhere else.

Went to the pub after a funeral for the wake. As it was a celebration of life rather than a sad wake the stage was used for various singers and music/DJ ( All friends of family). It's a big place with two sides and plenty of parking, the landlord and staff were spot on and the customers in the other side who we were talking to on fag breaks outside were a good bunch and very friendly, quite a few working lads ( contractors) in after work on a Friday. So a great evening was had by all. And that's the way to see someone out isn't it . 👍

A truly rock n roll pub with a great selection of beer, ale and cider. The atmosphere is great, with a wide range of 50s, 60s, rock n roll and rockabilly memorabilia adorning the walls. Friendly bar staff, big local characters who aren't afraid to get up and dance (and in doing so, most of them proving that age is just a number) and a fantastic selection of live music acts ranging from rock n roll, r'n'b and country and western. Rock on, Headlands! ✌
