About This Pub

Ah, the Troubadour – it's one of those hidden gems in London that I've grown quite fond of, you know? Picture this: a historic venue that's been around since 1954, where icons like Bob Dylan once graced the stage, and now it's still buzzing with live music events that get you in the mood for a proper night out. The cosy vibe, complete with a secret garden, makes it feel intimate and welcoming, perfect for catching up over a pint or enjoying some jazz on a Sunday. The food doesn't disappoint either; their brisket burger is an absolute treat, and those weekday specials at £12 are a steal for a hearty meal and a drink. Plus, the staff are always chipping in with that friendly service that keeps things light and fun. But, and I say this honestly, it's not all perfect – I came across a story of a rough time with a larger group, where things went south, so if you're planning a big get-together, you might want to think twice or book ahead. Overall, it's a solid choice for music lovers and foodies alike, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and a bit of that British optimism!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's got this rich history as a live music venue, hosting legends like Bob Dylan and Adele, which really adds a special charm to the place.
  • The atmosphere is wonderfully cosy and unique, with a secret garden and a vibe that's perfect for enjoying live gigs or just relaxing with friends.
  • The food is a highlight – think delicious options like the brisket burger and those £12 weekday specials, pairing brilliantly with a wide selection of drinks.
  • Service is spot on; the staff are friendly and efficient, making you feel right at home whether you're there for a pint or a full meal.
  • They've got a great lineup of events, like Sunday jazz nights, which make it an exciting spot for a night out without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • There was a disappointing dining experience reported with a larger group, so it might not handle big crowds as smoothly as smaller gatherings.
  • Based on that one review, the overall experience can sometimes fall short, especially if you're expecting flawless service every time.

One of the worst dining experiences I've had in London. I visited this restaurant with a group of relatives who were traveling from abroad for a summer holiday. We had a big group (7-8 people) and ordered a large meal expecting a pleasant experience, but were sorely disappointed. The dining environment was chaotic — loud music rehearsals were taking place downstairs the whole time, and the floor was constantly vibrating. One female staff member served us with a cold and dismissive attitude throughout the meal. I ordered a pineapple burger that never arrived, despite asking multiple times. Everyone else had finished eating and was getting ready to leave before it finally showed up — completely unacceptable. To make things worse, when we tried to pay with an international credit card, the staff refused the transaction, claiming it was because the card lacked a handwritten signature. She insisted we use a UK-issued card instead — even though the UK card we eventually used also had no signature. It was a clear excuse to avoid accepting non-UK cards, which is discriminatory and not in line with payment regulations. This caused unnecessary stress, especially for my relatives who were concerned their card might be blocked during future travels because of the decline this time caused by the female staff. Despite its social media popularity, the food was average at best, the environment was noisy and messy, and the service was extremely unwelcoming. I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant — especially not to international visitors. A truly disappointing and frustrating experience.

Such special place, it’s not the usual place you see everywhere, really unique and artistic. I had the brisket burger and it was delicious! This is probably my 10th visit and it never disappoints. Well done to troubadour team for keeping the spirit up! 🤍

Very nice place. We didn't eat, only drank. But the service was super super fast and the staff was very friendly. They have a wide selection of cocktails, wine, and beer.

Amazing experience. Came for jazz night learnt so much from the night with the band giving a history chat as well as playing some amazing music. Freddy on the service side of business was amazing. Great place to grab a pint and take in a fun night.

Very cozy place offering the true English pub experience. Lovely staff, great food, fair prices. Highly suggested! I went for an English breakfast (12£) for the Sunday brunch and it tasted very good.
