About This Pub

Ah, The Blackbird in Earl's Court – it's one of those pubs that really warms your cockles with its inviting atmosphere and solid offerings, but let's chat it through honestly, shall we? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food stands out as a real winner; think refined pub classics made with fresh, seasonal bits that leave you satisfied without breaking the bank. Pair that with their top-tier beer selection, and you've got yourself a proper cosy evening sorted. The location's spot on too, right in the heart of things, making it ideal for a quick stop or a linger with friends. And if you're fancying a kip nearby, the hotel rooms sound like a lovely bonus – spacious and well-thought-out for a good night's rest. On the flip side, though, it's not all pints and cheer; a few folks have mentioned the service can be a bit hit-or-miss, with some staff making you feel like you're interrupting their day rather than being a valued guest. Plus, the seating arrangements aren't always as comfortable as you'd hope, which might cramp your style if you're settling in for a long chat. All in all, it's worth popping in for the highs, but just keep in mind it might not be perfect every time – that's pubs for you, eh?

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely delicious and offers great value for money, with fresh, seasonal ingredients making every meal feel special.
  • Staff are generally helpful and polite, going out of their way to make you feel welcome, which really adds to the homely vibe.
  • It's got a fantastic location in Earl's Court, perfect for soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying a pint while watching the world go by.
  • The beer selection is excellent, as you'd expect from a pub featured in the Good Beer Guide – always a treat for any beer enthusiast.
  • If you're looking to extend your night, the hotel rooms are beautifully done and provide a comfortable stay right on site.
Cons
  • Some staff can come across as unwelcoming, making you feel like more of a bother than a guest, which puts a bit of a dampener on things.
  • The table setups might be uncomfortable, with thick undersides that make it hard to get settled, especially if you're hoping for a relaxed chat.
  • There have been mentions of issues with accommodating groups, like turning away tables, which could be frustrating if you're planning a get-together.

Came for breakfast here with my partner while staying in Kensington. Food was delicious, and good value for money. The staff were so helpful and polite, and really went out of their way to welcome us.

In many ways this is a perfect pub .... Apart from the way the staff think customers are an inconvenience. Great beer, great food, but, boy, were we an inconvenience when we stayed in the back room after 9pm. We heard the staff tell a customer that they didn't have room for a table of 8 when they patently did, in the back room. They made them sit in the front bar as two tables of four. A good pub is made by the staff and welcome, this drops two stars because of that.

The food was great, the location is fantastic, and most of the service was friendly. However, a couple of things took away from the experience. The table setup was quite uncomfortable—I’m a small person, but couldn’t sit properly or cross my legs because the table was unusually thick underneath. I ended up sliding out from the table just to get some legroom and had to eat with my plate slightly angled, which wasn’t ideal. Also, one of the girls serving at the bar asked my partner, “What do you want?” in a tone that came across as a bit abrupt. It may not have been intentional, but it didn’t feel particularly welcoming. Overall, it’s a nice spot with good food, but a few details around comfort and customer interaction could be improved.

We booked this hotel at the last minute for 3 nights and it was truly exceptional. The staff is friendly, the breakfast is great (buffet + service) and the room was perfect for two people. It was bigger than other hotels nearby and the bathroom was separated from the bedroom (there is a small vestibule). We appreciated that it was quiet and the location was exceptional. We would highly recommend this hotel.

This has quickly become one of my go-to neighborhood pubs for a fresh Guinness. Service is always cordial, atmosphere is inviting, and I love to sit outside and people watch while enjoying my pint. All in all, I am so grateful to be living near this lovely pub and recommended everyone to stop by for an enjoyable experience.
