About This Pub

Ah, the Travellers Rest – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot, you know? From the reviews I've had a look at, folks are raving about the food; it's hearty, well-cooked stuff that leaves you satisfied, whether it's a sharing platter or that standout battered cod. The staff really shine too, being so friendly and attentive that it makes the whole experience feel welcoming and personal – like chatting with mates behind the bar. The atmosphere is spot on for a chilled evening, with a cosy interior and a lovely garden for when the sun's out, and it's great that they welcome dogs, making it ideal for a walk followed by a pint. On the flip side, it might not be the cheapest option around, so if you're watching the pennies, it could add up. Plus, if you're not in the area, getting there might take a bit of effort, as one chap mentioned walking from the train station. All in all, with a solid 4.3 rating from plenty of happy visitors, it's well worth seeking out for a balanced pub day out – the good far outweighs any minor niggles, but it's always good to go in with eyes open.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think delicious sharing platters, steak and ale pie, and the best battered cod you've ever tasted, making it a real treat for a hearty meal.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, with new owners who go the extra mile to make you feel right at home, adding a lovely personal touch.
  • It has a cosy, inviting atmosphere, perfect for relaxing by the fire or enjoying a sunny spot in the garden with drinks in hand.
  • Being dog-friendly is a brilliant bonus, so you can pop in with your four-legged mate without any fuss.
  • Service is consistently excellent, with quick and attentive staff ensuring everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
Cons
  • With a moderate price level, it might feel a bit on the pricey side for everyday visits, especially if you're just after a quick pint.
  • The location in Euxton could be a tad out of the way if you're not local, potentially making it less convenient for a spontaneous stop.

Just stopped for a drink on our way past. Sat in the garden in the sun. Drinks and service were excellent. A lovely place to visit, we'll be back to try the food!

We have visited twice this year and both times have been excellent. The sharing platter to start was one of the best we have ever tasted (please don’t take it off the menu😀). I really enjoyed the steak and ale pie as well. The staff are all very friendly and the pub has a nice cosy atmosphere. It’s great to have two fantastic pubs in Euxton with great food.

Came to the Travellers Rest tonight after not visiting for a long while. The new owners Dave and Elysia are so lovely and welcoming. We had a table by the fire which was really nice. Service was amazing and the food was delicious. Everything was perfect from start to finish. We will definitely be visiting more often. What a little hidden gem we have found but I don't think it will be a secret for long!

Came here to rest from our travels and enjoy some food with drinks. The service was excellent. The food was delicious, quite possibly the best battered cod I’ve ever had. It’s dog friendly here which is a bonus. Walked 40 minutes from the train station to see if it was any good and it was perfect. The pictures on the wall added a nice touch to look at. The toilets were clean and in order. Opening time is 12 midday when food begins. The waitress told us of the specials which all sounded delicious. All the staff were friendly and helpful. There is also a dog menu if your little pup has built up an appetite. The waiter brought my dog some water which was nice. I would highly recommend travellers rest to anyone.
