About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about The Rose & Crown – it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot every time. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is a real standout; think hearty pub classics done to perfection, like that melt-in-your-mouth brisket or sharing nachos that leave you wanting seconds. The drinks selection is spot on too, with plenty of cask ales and wines to suit any taste, and it's all served up by staff who genuinely make you feel like you're catching up with old mates. The outdoor area is brilliant for a summer pint, and being dog-friendly adds a nice touch for those who like to bring their furry friends. On the flip side, it does get busy, especially with its popularity, so you might find yourself queuing if you pop in unannounced, and if you're not nearby in Lancashire, it's a bit of a trek. Overall, though, it's a gem of a place that balances that traditional charm with solid grub and good vibes, making it well worth a visit for anyone looking for a proper pub experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot-on – fresh, locally sourced dishes like tender brisket and delicious nachos that make every meal feel special.
-
The staff are so friendly and attentive, always on hand with a smile and quick service, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got that classic cosy pub atmosphere with eclectic decor and a great selection of drinks, including traditional cask ales, premium lagers, and fine wines.
-
The outdoor beer garden is a real treat, perfect for a relaxed alfresco meal on a sunny day, and it's even dog-friendly so you can bring the pooch along.
-
They host live music and events, adding a fun vibe, and the specials change frequently, so there's always something new to try.
Cons
-
It might get a bit crowded during peak times, which could mean waits for tables if you haven't booked ahead.
-
Being a traditional country pub, it's a tad out of the way if you're not local, so it could take some effort to get to unless you're in the Lancashire area.

Many trips here, many times dined and just drank, catered for business lunches, dining for one or with big tables. This time a lovely alfresco in glorious beer garden for a relaxed breathable summer gastronomy event
Well done again guys x

Visited a few times now and everytime this place is great. The food is classic pub food but done really well. The drinks are reasonable and the inside is done nicely.
The specials are changed frequently so can normally try something different. Staff are always really friendly.
Dare we say the best "pub" food we've ever eaten. Starter nachos with beef
delicious to share. Main course braised brisket of beef was so tender, the beef croquet with mash, broad beens was absolutely delicious. The shine on the gravy....my husband could almost redo his lippy 🤣 Lovely French red (lord knows who she was😅🫣) to accompany. Service was impeccable from bar to table service. Thank you we will be back
A party of 7 of us descended on a Wednesday evening, having been recommended by friends. The pub atmosphere is exactly what you want a pub to be, a nice cozy atmosphere with eclectic decor gave exactly the right vibe. There’s a great selection of beers and spirits. The food was delicious, each plate was clean and the specials complemented the menu choices. We will be recommending to our other friends and will definitely be back!
Had a lovely meal of salmon, sea bass and burger. Great desserts and ales too! The food was fresh and the staff consistently at hand for quick service.
Highly recommend visiting.
