About This Pub

Ah, the Brown Cow Inn – what a gem it seems to be for a relaxed pint with mates in Eccleston. From the reviews, it's clear folks love the friendly staff who go out of their way to make everyone feel at home, and there's always something on, like sports on the telly or a bit of live entertainment to keep things buzzing. The garden's a lovely spot for a summer evening, and they've got real ale from Thwaites, plus the food sounds absolutely brilliant based on what people are saying. But, let's be fair, one or two mentioned the cask ale falling a tad short, so if you're a real ale aficionado, you might want to check that out first. Overall, with a solid 4.4 rating, it's got that proper local charm that makes it a go-to for a good laugh and a catch-up, without any pretentious nonsense – just a balanced spot that's worth a visit if you're in the area.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always making you feel welcome like you're part of the gang.
  • There's a fantastic selection of drinks and heaps of entertainment options, from watching sports to live acts and darts – perfect for a lively night.
  • It has a real community feel, with a great bunch of regulars and a spacious garden that's ideal for chilling out on a sunny afternoon.
  • They serve up proper real ale from Thwaites Brewery, and the food is spot on, with plenty of praise for its quality.
  • It's a welcoming village spot that's open every day, making it easy to pop in for a casual drink or a proper catch-up.
Cons
  • The cask ale didn't quite live up to expectations for some, which might disappoint if you're after a top-notch pint.
  • With only a handful of recent reviews, it might not have the buzz of busier places, so things could feel a bit quiet at times.

Went to the cow yesterday for the first time since lockdown and it was fab! It was super organised with a one way system Implemented aswell as a hand sanitising station on the way in. The food is INCREDIBLE! Hats off to Russ and Katie for coming back with a bang!!
