About This Pub

Ah, Tib Street Tavern – it's one of those unpretentious gems tucked away in the heart of Manchester's Northern Quarter that really hits the spot for a relaxed pint and some lively sport. From what I've gathered from folks who've popped in, the staff are absolute stars, always on hand with quick, cheerful service that makes you feel like a regular from the get-go. It's particularly ace for catching the football, with screens dotted around and even a projector for the big games, plus a decent range of beers at prices that won't break the bank. The clean, nicely decorated interior adds to the charm, giving it that warm, community feel. On the downside, though, it's a compact space, so it can get a bit snug when the crowds roll in, and I've heard tales of it being on the chilly side without the heating fired up. Food-wise, it's not their strongest suit – options are slim, and things like the veggie choices might leave you wanting more, though it's great that you can nip out and bring your own back in. All in all, it's a solid pick for a casual catch-up or match day, but keep those niggles in mind if you're after something more polished.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and efficient, always quick with a smile and your drink, making every visit feel welcoming.
  • It's a brilliant spot for watching live sports, with multiple TVs and even an overhead projector so you won't miss a moment of the action.
  • They've got a great selection of beers on tap, including some niche finds like Pravha, and the prices are pretty reasonable for the area.
  • The place is spotlessly clean with a nice, modern decor that gives it a cosy Northern Quarter vibe.
  • They're flexible with food – you can bring your own if needed, which is a handy touch for families or groups.
Cons
  • It can get a bit chilly inside if the heating's off, which might put a dampener on things during cooler evenings.
  • The space is quite small, so it can feel a tad cramped when it's busy, and you might overhear conversations you'd rather not.
  • Some drinks have been called overpriced by a few, which stings a little in an otherwise affordable spot.
  • Food options are limited and not always up to par – like the veggie hotdog that was a bit dry, or the lack of sides like salad.
  • Occasionally, the sports aren't on with sound, leaving just background music, which can be disappointing if you're there for the match.

We asked about food but it wasn't on as united were playing shortly after our arrival. The guy behind the bar said we were welcome to get food elsewhere and bring it in which I thought was great. We were in for the football anyway and I was with my Mrs and two teenage kids so getting them fed was top priority. The place really started to fill up just before the game and the atmosphere was top draw, the place was absolutely bouncing. United v Lyon FYI, my Mrs and kids didn't know what to expect and absolutely loved it. I'll definitely be coming back and will have food next time. Great fun and if your out for the football this is the bar 🤙

Very clean and nice decor inside. No heating but the football was on with no sound. Music in background though but place is that small that i could hear the bar staffs conversation about her neighbour sending a photo of a cat and she literally died but clearly she didnt as she just poured my overpriced pint

Lovely place with relaxed soul music. Came on the day of Manchester half marathon just after event. It was empty 😁 Had hotdogs - german bratwurst was good, veggie one was a bit dry. I would prefer a shroom kitchen sausage instead. Would have liked to have an option for a different side - some salad instead of chips.

A nice sports-style bar in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter. Nicely style with plenty of seating over two floors and a good selection of beers. TV screens well located for watching sport. The staff seem very friendly and efficient (short bar waiting times despite being very busy). Rex commended for a pre-match drink and dinner.
