About This Pub

Ah, The White Lion in Sandiacre – it's one of those pubs that really captures that classic British feel, you know? I mean, pop in for a pint and you're greeted with friendly faces and a buzzing atmosphere, especially if you're into watching the footy or having a game of pool. The staff are gems, always up for a chat and making sure everyone's having a good time, and they've got some wicked drink offers that make it easy on the wallet. It's brilliant for casual meet-ups or even smaller events; I heard someone had a cracking 30th birthday bash there with their own bar and games, and they didn't even charge for the room – talk about a win! But, let's be honest, it's not all rosy. A couple of mates mentioned getting drinks that weren't quite up to measure, which is a shame when you're shelling out for them, and there's that odd issue with folks vaping inside despite the rules, which the staff don't always sort out. Plus, the glassware isn't always as clean as you'd hope, and if you're a real ale fan, you might find the options a bit slim. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out – just go in with realistic expectations, and you'll likely have a great time. I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area, especially for the community spirit it brings.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant and really friendly, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • They've got a cracking selection of drinks with some unbeatable offers, perfect for enjoying a pint without breaking the bank.
  • It's a top spot for watching live sports like football, rugby, and more, with HD screens that make you feel like you're in the thick of the action.
  • The atmosphere is lively and fun, especially if you're up for a laugh or hosting an event – their function room is spot on for smaller gatherings.
  • Being a community pub, it's got that welcoming local feel, with things like pool and darts to keep things entertaining.
Cons
  • Some folks have mentioned drinks not being poured properly, like coming out half full, which can be a bit disappointing when you're paying for a full one.
  • There's inconsistency with rules, such as smoking or vaping inside when it's not supposed to happen, and it seems the staff don't always step in.
  • Cleanliness could do with a bit of attention, especially with glasses not always looking spotless, and the beer selection is a tad limited with just the one cask ale on offer.
  • A few reviews point to service hiccups if you're not overly polite, which might put off those after a relaxed pint without any drama.

Good beer, plenty of customers, and a friendly spot. Only bad thing is that there are signs saying no smoking or vaping, but customers are vaping in here😏 But the staff don't seem to be bothered?

Good local pub, not too sure about cleanliness of glasses and they always have 1 cask ale rather than a range :-D

Hired the function room for my 30th, it wasn’t a big party (40 people or so) but the space was perfect. We were allowed to play on the pool table and darts plus we were served at our own bar. The staff were so friendly and we wasn’t charged for the hire of the room which was fantastic. They did offer to do us food and provide a DJ if that’s something people wanted. On this night there was a live band in the main room which we also enjoyed. Thank you Laura and her team we will be back for future events! Highly recommend!
