About This Pub

You know, when you step into The White Lion in Burnley, it's like walking into a proper old-school pub that's full of character – originally a butcher's shop back in the day, and it's been a family-run gem for over a decade. I love how the staff, especially Angie and the team, go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, and they've got a solid range of beers and drinks that won't break the bank, making it a top choice for a laid-back night with mates or even a pre-match gathering. The entertainment lineup, with karaoke and pool, adds a fun twist to keep things lively without being overwhelming. On the downside, it's very much traditional, so if you're hoping for something a bit more upscale or with heaps of food choices, you might find it a tad lacking – think simple snacks rather than a full dining experience. All in all, it's a reliable spot for good company and a decent drink, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area for that authentic pub feel, but keep expectations realistic for what it offers.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant and make you feel right at home, just like a proper local pub should.
  • They've got a cracking selection of beers, wines, and spirits, all at really affordable prices – perfect for a casual catch-up.
  • The traditional atmosphere is spot on, with lively entertainment like karaoke and pool nights to keep things fun and engaging.
  • It's in a prime spot in Burnley town centre, making it ideal for a pre-match pint or soaking up that community vibe.
  • As a family-run spot, it has that warm, welcoming feel that's hard to beat for a relaxed evening out.
Cons
  • It might come across as a bit old-school and basic if you're after something more modern or fancy, like trendy decor or extensive menus.
  • Food options seem limited to simple things like hot beef baps, so it's not the place for a full meal or gourmet treats.
  • With no recent reviews, it's tricky to gauge if the buzz has stayed the same, though the overall feel is still charming from what's shared.
